Four-pilot squads now in PvP (Discussion)

From now on, the squads can be formed up to 4 pilots in PvP  :012j:

Games like World of Tanks, Warships, Armored Warfare, etc. have a 2 sometimes 3 squad limit for a reason… allows teams to dictate the match far to easily… Why would you go and allow 4 man squads?? unless they are ONLY gonna be matched against other 4 man squads this is a TERRIBLE idea… just sayin.

RIP PVP

4-man squads come back. I’m happy. It’s a good move. We’ll see how it evolve.

WoW millanbel that’s a destroyer kill feast. I haven’t seen that ever. I think you will be happier if you take out your destroyer from your line up because you will face much less destroyers.

The main reason is simple. Too much feedback about abusing not skilled pilots in OS

I am stunned by this answer and still wondering how you see your own game. You had feedback that there were too much abuse of not skilled people in the OS. I just can’t believe you guys listened at it this is unbelievable. So tomorrow if we complain that there is too much aliens in the OS because we feel abused of their auto agression, you will remove the aliens ?

All as been said by the others, g4borg have right at some points even if i’m not agree with all he said because i’m still 100% convinced that a game called Conflict need to make corp standings and everything to create corp / alliance conflict where the théâtre would be the OS. We created in FrogSwarm was what missing between our standing board and our killboard and we can clearly said that WE had what was missed in the OS from our point of view. And to be fair, even with the complain, OS should not be a secure world and was ok how it was designed before about the pvp sectors because purposed to the pilots secure systems AND unsecure systems.

But let’s recap:

  • People are too dumb to read when they jump into a sector says: DANGEROUS SECTOR

  • People are too dumb to remove the station protection because they think they are invincible and well skilled pilots.

  • People are alone players who don’t want to socialise and join a corp and cry when they got killed instead of:

– Being smart and get skill to avoid to get caught

– Forming up with their corp / friends to get revenge

But even with it, you decided , because these guys feel we ruin their game to ruin the game of hundreds of pilots in corporations who do pvp / roaming in the OpenSpace.

Good job really.

Decrease in pvp sectors in OS is a bit weird. Maybe devs want to address player killers somehow. It’s not fair to kill someone in a Rank 7 ship with a jaguar.

From my point of view all, or maybe most, of the sectors in OS should be pvp. But players should be able to kill only other players with ships of the same Rank or above. It won’t address all the problems, but seems more fair.

From now on, the squads can be formed up to 4 pilots in PvP  :012j:

Am I sleeping or in coma? This cannot be real…

back on topic: i hope this will also change the presence of squads for NA hours. I would love to see squads come back during those hours…

Back in the early days of MMOs it was all lawless, anything goes out in the open, with max/high level players, ganking newbies just starting out, and you could loot the corpses of the players you killed. This didn’t go over well for a lot of people, but companies stubbornly stuck with it, and MMOs were regarded as something just for a niche market. Then Blizzard comes along with their casual friendly MMO World of Warcraft, pulled in insane numbers of players, and made stupid amounts of money. MMOs, and other styles of online games have since become common place, with more being released each month, than used to exist in total. The old style of open world gank fest has gone well out of fashion, and is considered unprofitable compare to more casual friendly games. Just look at Black Desert, early on they were promising a hardcore open world PvP game, with no instances, no safe areas, looting of player corpses, and all that old school stuff. Some people were really psyched about that idea, but that concept lasted I think two closed beta versions before they announced that they determined that their market did not want that, so started putting in heavy restrictions, and penalties to the PvP. It was no different here, it just took them longer to make the change, and with this change made, I finally ponied up, and bought a rank 15 spacial scanner, and am looking at other stuff to buy again. That’s the kind of thing they’re looking for, they need more people in the game, and buying things, as they know they can’t survive off of just the whales, not with all the other space based games out, and coming out now.

Beyond that, people really into PvP always go on as if they are the majority, and that everyone feels the same way they do about some topic. Fact is, that if you objectively look around in-game, and ask players in general, you’d find a much larger silent majority that don’t really care for PvP, or at least not that kind of abusive PvP. If you want open space to be a “PvP” anywhere game mode, flag yourself for PvP (disable station protection) when you leave the station from the options menu, nothing is stopping you from doing that, and fighting others that have flagged themselves for PvP, even in protected zones. Complaining so bitterly about the removal of so many “PvP” zones, when nothing is stopping your from flagging yourself for PvP, and engaging in it anyhow with others that want that, just makes it sound like what you’re actually complaining about, is how you can’t as readily rack up a bunch of easy kills from players that weren’t in any position to put up a fight. If you actually get off on that sort of thing, I gotta ask, do you go to your local kennel to kick puppies, and kittens in your spare time, or how about punching babies in the maternity ward of your local hospital?

Now to see if I can get my Corp back online to squad with…

We tried squadding, but only got a few matches as a three-man squad, after 5-7 min waiting…

There really needs to be more visibility to see how many other squads and what size are in queue. So that we can adapt our own to find a match faster.

Give it a few days, millan. Word about squadding being back will spread like wildfire, and queues will be filled with them again.

I also got a few games today, during offpeak hours IN T5! HOLY CRAP! I love this!

…but I can finally squad with my friends AND get games :’)

And that is all that matters to me right now.

Let me say this:

Only successful games make money. The main goal of this game is to make money. A successful game will please the majority of everyone.

That being said, we have to compromise to please the majority. I think the developers of Star Conflict are doing a great job at exploring and developing that compromise.

If it is becoming something different than what you truly want, then first you should realize that you are the minority. Every change that is made is intended to increase popularity and therefore profit. This is the way of the world. Deal with it, or go make your own game.

=P

And that is all that matters to me right now.

Woah woah woah now, i gotta power level my Tonkor!

Woah woah woah now, i gotta power level my Tonkor!

Isn’t the Tonkor a warframe grenade launcher?

Every change that is made is intended to increase popularity and therefore profit.

Blatantly untrue. Many of the game’s changes through the years have been about trying to make the game less entertaining in the hope of earning money through player frustration.

Woah woah woah now, i gotta power level my Tonkor!

For future reference:

  • Full integration of sector conquest into OS, for ownership of sectors. For example the owner of a system can undock from that system, add improvements like defense guns, actually have their dreadnought in the system with them…

Also, perhaps make the ‘friendly’ transports belong to the owning corporation, and make the sector rewards dependant on how many safely reach their destination.  So a corp has an incentive to defend its transports and engage in pvp against criminals.

back on topic: i hope this will also change the presence of squads for NA hours. I would love to see squads come back during those hours…

I fear its as always with things: destroying something works quite fast, rebuilding it takes time

the thing millanbel mentioned - seeing where other squads are - would still be nice. generally more information where you can expect population would make squadding easier.

and as said, maybe lower ranks dont need 3-4 squads, to prevent t2 sealclubbing.

so whats wrong in dictating a match - and yeah, on the other side there is also a squad  of course.

besides that dictating is not always what happens, and the time without squads definitely showed us, one-sided battles by people knowing each other pushing one side harder is unavoidable, with or without squads.

btw. all games you mentioned are basicly the same.

I’m so tired of companies catering to cry babies…

How do you spell hypocrite?

Honestly, anything the team will be a move in the wrong direction. It’s just how the people see the game. It’s like the American government… Every single option chosen will be a bad decision no matter what and the president will get called a mug regardless of his actions.

Besides, I like the additional touch of now you can no longer see who is grouped with who. What you can’t see won’t hurt anybody.

Now to see if I can get my Corp back online to squad with…

See you very soon.

You mean, Nova stat-padding tactics?
