I pretty much always fly with my ship orientated so that “Up” matches what it looks like if I hit the TAB key and look at the map.
It helps me know where to go to get to beacons/bombs/etc.
But I’m wondering if I’ll get a bit of an advantage by letting go of this “up” thing and start flying my ship upside-down, or sideways, or whatever random way it ends up going during a battle.
Do you mainly fly your ship with “up” lining up with the map/compass. Or do you fly other random orientations?
Yeah on my frig I always like to be facing “up” it’s funny, where on my interceptor dog fighting it doesn’t really matter.
dude i get confuse when i was facing some orientation then after a dogfight im like upside down and i become lost in space

Due to the flat map that doesn’t show relatively to your position / direction, it is quite required for up to be “up”. During fight, I might end up in any direction, but when it is quiet, I always re-rotate myself.
If the map was better, and rotated accordingly, then I would fly however I wish.
