think about it, the weapons penetrate the shields and hit the hull, causing ship damage. The ship isn’t gonna be perfectly fine. It’s gonna start going wrong.

We tried several weapons, not working. Eclipse, Mass driver, even thermal Heavy blaster, nothing. And thanks for your comment!

With lots of testing with my friend (over 40 minutes of checking with this) as soon as laser touches the hull, this happens. But friendly lasers do this even with shield on, also destroyer did it with shields on.

Nope, critical shoots just do a different effect on the enemy’s shield/hull when they land.
Actually I found out more about this.
What you can see is the critical hit effects, which is just a bigger blast of the weapon. But the enemy cannot see those big blasts on them, because I never saw them happening to me.
What you can see is either your engines burning (lasers), or weapons burning (kinetic - I think only rapid guns), or all of your ship getting some kind of shocks (EM, I think only rapid guns) when your shield is taken down and being hit. But enemies cannot see those effects as well.
So you can see yourself doing critical, and the enemy burning your ship to death, but the enemy cannot see you burning to death, but they can see themselves blasting da hell out uf ya.
Actually if your weapons are burning, I found out that they don’t shoot! (At east if it is a succession weapon like KS or Coils which is all I’ve tried to shoot with.)
I was derping around with my Waki in a league match and an enemy broke my shields and hit a turret. I tried to shoot, but was only shooting at the speed you see when shooting backwards and a turret is blocked. It was only shooting from my left turret and my right was on fire. XD
If an enemy hits your turret with their weapon, possibly dealing a critical hit, there is a chance for that turret to be disabled. It’s super cool and gives the game more of a tactical look. X3

Hmm, one person said that this might be an introduction to a “damaging modules and weapons” system, looks good tbh.
So far ive seen the 3 basic weapons have effects for critical dmg:
-Plasma gun: you have a pretty big blue explotion for each crit hit.
-Rail guns: same but with yellow (more like coils).
-Beam cannon: the weapon has a mini explotion per second (when the dmg number shows over the ship/start hitting the target) and a bigger one when dealing crit dmg.
And as stated before, lasers makes your engines burn.
Im pretty sure they will implement something similar for every gun. About the guns on fire and not being able to shoot, i havent seen that yet.
All beams cause the flair thing.
Railguns cause an explosion for each shot that crits.
Plasma gun causes an explosion for each shot that crits.
Just a simplified version of above.
Also, I’m not sure, but I think that exploding weapons cause a slightly larger explosion.
I also believe that on high graphics, you can also see other’s crits. I was watching someone take down an enemy from some distance away and I saw their rails explode once or twice.

I think that friendlies can see what you do or what happen to you, not quite sure though.
