ECM ruined the gameplay!

I’ve been playing this game since it was 0.4 lol

So now I could easily say that ECM ruined the original gamaplay!

 

All of the top player just use an ecm int…do u know why?

Very simply … just thinking abuut a ship that can completely stop and disable another one in a game like this is out of mind! In pvp being disabled just mean that u r going to die and disabling an opponent ship means just another quick easy kill for the ecm pilot…

 

Please devs stop this thing immediately!

 

Disabling ability should completely removed from ecm or it should’n last more then 1,5 seconds. Maybe ecm shouldn’t be able to carry missiles…Anyway something got to be done very soon…ECM is simply a cheat ship.

What would be point of ecm without disables then? It’s utility ship. You dont get much kills with it as with other inties.

That’s why all of the top players can’t stop using ECM to keep their ratings high…

I agree. ECM tier 3 and up is unusually offensive. I definitely feel like I’m flying gimpy ships with recon or covert ops compared to ecm.  I still destroy ecm’s anyway with covert ops and recons, but it is very difficult compared to other interceptors.  When I’m flying a frigate, I know ecm enemies are the ones to get rid of first.  However, since every ship is useless except engineer, guard and ecm, I’d rather see the rest of the ships be made useful instead of crippling the only 3 useful ones in the entire game.

Actually ECM is imo the least desirable Inty right now. 

It got nerfed that hard, that CovOps and especially Recons are nearly better in any possible situation.

The only moment where ECM shine, are, when you have good squad and live the Teamplay. 

Not sure at all Zap…Maybe they don’t do that great in low tiers but in T4-T5 where i play, being disabled means instant death (or instant kill on the attacker side). and a great advantage in the battle…Simply ECM work like a cheat hack. It’s simply kind of turning down your mouse or keyboard…That’s an officially approved cheater ship lol. Those ecm ability don’t need to be nerfed, they need to be deleted at all and changed in something else.

 

When i see an ecm coming to me i know that i’m going to die…in a second i can’t move/point anymore just waiting for the missiles incoming…amen. I can’t see any skill in this. But yeah, maybe i’m wrong and that’s the way the dogfight should work…

ECMs are Support ships. Their current role is judge, executioner and firing squad if used correctly. However, in recent patches, they hit with the nerfbat. Hard. And it shows, because fewer and fewer people are still using them. It’s still an excellent tactical and Captain’s ship, however.

Well, nope. 

Actually I have EVERY ECM in this game (except premium ones) (yes, the Storm Viking, too, which might be the best in T5) and you know what: I dont even equip them anymore. Jerry ECMs suffer badly from Parasite Mod since Recons crept in, and the Empire ones are quite a lot tougher but suffer from the lack of Speed. 

Since you are “up there”, too you might know how cruel and super-tanky Guards (especially Jerry ones) can be. There is no point in going a loner ECM, especially since they can be easily jammed by CovOps or simply avoided by Recons and Guards just dont care about your puny DPS.

Also, another annoyance about many ECMs in T4/5, are the layouts, in fact only the Arigato AE from the Jerry-Line can be made completely self sufficient (that means energy regen>afterburner use, EB and Regenerative Coating) , which is sad, since ECM are ment to be Powerhouses. 

 

Also, try to engage Groups with ECM never in a straight ahead, always have a Vector that points not directly towards them, its way easier then to survive the stun. 

 

And since you play since 0.4 (I only started at 7.6) I wonder why you start to rage right now about them. Pre 8.0. any Interceptor was able to fit Stasis, also early stasis made your ship stop instantly, so you were a sitting duck. THAT was friggin OP. 

To be honest and dead serious: Another Nerf to the ECM modules and you can discard the whole line. Then it will be only a slowish Inty without any real meaning and abilities. 

Or, just stack the proton walls. There Stasis mods only last 2 seconds or less.

Lost in the forum there should be some old treads by me talking about ship roles and ships abilities…I’ve always complained about disableing abilities and the cheater stasi thing. None ship should be able to compltely disable another one. And zap haven’t u said that u got all the ECM ships in the game…? I think there should be a resaon if u like them so much :slight_smile:

with my current speed I might have all ships up to R12 in a week or 2…all T5 ships in maybe 2 months? It is not hard to get certain ship lines up high. And maybe he trained them before the nerf and now he doesn’t use them anymore?

 

And ECM is far from OP right now since the nerfhammer hit it.

Yea, those were fine ships, but since the last nerfhammer they arent really worth it anymore. As I told you, they very rarely find a place in my Ship-lineup (no thanks for you to not actually reading my post btw.). 

Actually disabling is sometimes the only possibility to stop a raging gunship from killing your healer, without that ability teamplay would suffer even more.

But Im open for new ideas (ECM is that bad for me), give me a completely other purpose for that ship which still gives it a supportive role.

I had, except LRF and Fed Frigs, all ships in T4 pre 9.0

ECMs aren’t doing their job as ECM. As they are now, they’re EW, in general. And, for that, they should have a wider range of modules to use (including Frigate ones).

 

Maybe mixing a few modules between roles (ie, 1-2 modules available for the Command be available on Gunships and vice-versa) would entice gameplay a bit. Yes, it’d likely spawn some very OP’d fits but I think it’s worth it, tbh…

What I am seeing is someone that does not know how to handle the game properly or defend against an ECM. 

 

OP, can you show us your stats and explain your play style? I would be happy to help you and point out some things so you can easily kill those ECMs. 

Since most Tier 4 and Tier 5 matches end up 1v1 or 2v2 (only counting humans) ECMs are still grossly OP against everything that isnt a Guard ship.  Still, the solution to this problem is for matches to have no less than 6 humans per side.  Since that is not possible at this time, its a marketing issue more than a balance issue.

 

They need more people.  Specifically more people playing Tier 4 and Tier 5.  Until then I expect those who can will spam their Tier 4/5 ECMs and claim their free 1v1 wins.

I only use ECM when I’m capt on combat recon or when its trully needed. I never had problems vs other ECMs because of the jericho implant and the proton wall I use on recon and command ships.

Yup, thats basically how you defend against them, and use your White Noise Jammer. There modules depend on lock on, thus disabling that, renders them helpless, for a limited time. Stasis in T4 only is effective for 1.4 seconds on me on my CO.

also that lion of you looks nice, could you show me how you fit it? I’m not sure if the fed tacker line is worthy (to start from t1 in the endgame)
