Only for solo. And even than, I personally never use it and neither the passive armor, I just prefer powerhouse builds that are supplemented by the squad for all the healing and energy you need.

True, if you are in a squad, you dont need it.
Try playing all the different ship types, once I got into command ships I realised I had found a role I am good at, since then I have been able to get respectable scores.
