Duplicate Modules

I don’t know where to put this, but I thought I would bring it up. If you try to use two of the same module, it initiates them both simultaneously. That would be a nice fix in the next patch.

Actually it only uses one of them, and puts the other on an equal cooldown, this is to prevent module cheese stacking.

Oh. So it is a legitimate function? Darn, I thought it was a glitch.

It’s intended, and it’s commonly called “shared cooldown”.

I also like to think that taking two of the same active module kills your flexibility, so the shared cooldown function is a good thing.

I had tried it in the past.  Four pulsars on a guard, why not?  It makes sense it’s blocked for that reason, but I wish it were just not allowed rather than finding out in game.

Yeah.

This. Active modules should be unique and you should simply be prevented from equipping the same one twice.

Even better - I’d like to see it changed so that when you’re trying to equip a module, it filters out all the (active) modules you have already equipped in the other slots, just making the list shorter and more user-friendly as a result. If they serve no purpose - don’t display them.

Interesting thought on the subject: what if equipping more of the same active mod reduces cooldown and doesn’t actually show 2 mods (let’s say a 25% reduce for 2, 40% for 3)? This instead of having 2 working modules of the same type in case they were both usable for example. Any thoughts? I’d always skip my combat reboot on gunships for an extra speed mod in some situations.

PS: adding more than 2 mods penalises the bonus so it’s not 25%+25%+25%, but more like an exponential curve like 25%+15%+5% (numbers are just for example).

Imagine the horror of near infinite pulsars?

Imagine the horror of near infinite pulsars?

it would result in lots of nukes and lots of hoarding rockets until you meet that target then everyone ganging up on one target at a time I suppose.

Forget 4 pulsars, I would install 4 missile shields and shoot down ALL the missiles :bomber:

And no pulsar to defend against the group if interceptors under your belly.

As a frequent interceptor pilot, let me assure you, that thing has saved your xxxx more than you know.
