Do you think the current Credits income without license its ok or to less!

Separating the credits to PVE and then the reputation grind to PVP means you have to grind twice as long.  There are already four grinds in this game, credits, synergy, rep and sub-rep.  That is lots of grinding so you can play PVP.  by the time you get ships the way you want, you are probably going to be sick of playing, at least I am.  150 games in one ship, AKA 37 hours of play?  just to get it equipped the way I want (and assuming the faction rep is there to buy what I want)?  Why keep playing at that point?

Your post is slightly misleading/uninformed as those ‘seperate grinds’ all happen simultaneously. It just happens to be the case that you gain more credits in PvE and more rep in PvP - you don’t exclusively get either in these game modes. It’s a perfectly acceptable system and enables players to ocassionally try another game mode if they’re close to achieving their credit or reputation goal. Or to stick with whatever game mode they prefer.

If you get ‘sick of playing’ - then I would suggest this isn’t the game for you. You are playing a game mode to get better at the same game mode - it’s progress you make over time. The point is to enjoy yourself, not to sit there feeling you are grinding to have fun later. It’s not like the game mode suddenly massively changes just because you achieved max synergy level or reputation.

that is a misleading statement and you know it.

in a perfectly competitive game, everyone has access to the same quality gear. this is not a competitive game nor do people have equal access, im cool with that. but it does suck when you fly against people with better colored mods than you do.

it won’t massively alter my life. but atleast i would feel better being defeated by an opponent if we were on a level playing field

the grind is an accessory to this problem.

I don’t believe it is misleading at all. The difference is really not that big in the grand scheme of things as the game isn’t designed for 1v1 gameplay. If we were talking about a free-for-all deathmatch style affair, I would totally agree with you. However, we are not. You’re a part of a larger entity (your team) and just because you ‘only’ have a mark 1 module and one of the opponents has a mark 3 - won’t make you any less useful to your team.

Personally, I don’t look at things as a grind. Just play the game, enjoy yourself and if you find loot which provides you with an upgrade, regard it as a bonus. It’s not something you absolutely must have to compete.

The evil purple engineer laughs at me while I accept your arguments

I see this game definitly as a grind. And I fear at just how much they will keep making it more and more of a grind. Progression is important, and this game isn’t very progressive sometimes…

It is a pleasant surprise when I look down to the bottom right corner of my screen and see I have 18M sitting in the bank. Equally pleasant is noticing I am half way from rank 11 to 12 with my second faction. It was only when I was on the last stretch – 100k to my dream ship or 5k reputation to the next rank – that I began to notice the numbers tied to progression. Usually, I just play for the pure enjoyment of blowing ships up.

I agree with EvilTactician. The best gear isn’t necessary to capture beacons or run EMPs, and should I ever encounter a fully kitted enemy in all purples well, I have a team for that.

well, I have a team for that.

When you try to outfit a ship in mk3, or try to farm for a new ship, it feels VERY grindy. I use a license and reputation levels quickly enough, loyalty is still slow(faster than 7.10 but still slower than 7.8) and it REALLY sucks to have to buy a ship with mk1 crap, why can we still not buy ships without mk1 crap on them? It would save about 1m+ on T3 ships, and 3m or so on T4 ships IIR the old ship prices correctly.

yes true, i never understood why the mk1 stuff in new ships was introduced as an imperative purchase. :dntknw: There was no need for this and its complete useless in my opinion. It should be possible to buy ships without that stuff.  :yes_yes:

That was my thought as well. I wanted to see an option to buy just the ship. I’m pretty sure there’s another thread dedicated to this topic alone.

17f0f3b0.gif Hey, I have randoms on my team some days too. xD

t1-t2 is ok i think…BUT tier 3 and 4 pvp is not enough.

Especcialy the repair costs are to high and it takes rly long to equipt a ship with “FULL” mk2

i think for t1 und t2 its ok. t3 and especially in t4 its way too much, OR the repair costs are way to high. your choice. but generally the income is too low.

the overall progress is in my opinion since t3 way too slow.

hehe agreed. I noticed last night I hit the 30+ Million mark, I really didn’t notice the credits creeping up like that.

I do have to mentioned I don’t spend that much and I find a lot of the equipment a pointless upgrade, you’ll loot better soon enough.

I’ve never sold a single piece of equipment either, there’s a good 450+ in my warehouse.

Lol, if i had 30m it would be gone in approx. 5 minutes xD I would buy new ships

I intend to buy all the ships in the game in the end

I’ve been around games like this for a while.  It’s always a balance between liking the game enough to play regularly and how much is that play time worth.

As soon as I found this game (after uninstalling World of Tanks, ironically enough, because they messed up the game economy so much it was difficult to earn money even with a premium account), I realized I liked it.

The very first thing I did was buy a Ghost.  The second thing I did was buy 30 days of premium.  If I don’t like the game after 30 days I haven’t really lost that much, but more than likely (on a per hour basis) probably more than made up for the money I spent.

I realize money is a problem for some people, but unfortunately devs and servers don’t operate outside of the real world economy.  Most F2P games allow access but encourage those who can spend money to do so, so everyone can play the game.

To me it’s not an issue of ‘is the payout for people without a license enough’, but ‘how do we keep encouraging those who can pay to keep doing so’.

Those without a license should absolutely feel the difference in income, and I’m pretty sure most people can eventually scrape together enough for one or two months with a license to get over those super-grindy humps that exist in every game like this.

I’m not very sympathetic I guess, because the game is still free to play.  Suck it up and get yourself some license time.  You have a computer, are on the internet, so you’re almost 100% of the way there.

I’d like to add that I don’t always play premium.  Recently I’ve played World of Tanks, SWTor, and Rift as both premium and non-premium.  It depends on what I’m trying to do in game that determines if I actually pay to play every single month.  Normally I’ll pay until I don’t need to, or pay if I get tired of grinding too much.  Rift has gone F2P and I haven’t played it enough for a couple of months to see all the differences.  One way you most definitely do NOT want to see a game go is Dungeons and Dragons, where 75% of the game content is only playable with special purchases that end up costing a lot more than a straightforward subscription.

almost read it as pay up or GTFO lol. Good first post nonetheless.

Welcome to the forum.

Welcome to the forum.

Well, I didn’t mean for it to sound harsh.  It’s more intended as a ‘welcome to the world economy’.  Devs are giving far more than half the game away for free, and are right in tying important advantages to those who can and will pay for them.

Thanks for the welcome Kine

Closer to 40 now, proving my point that the progress speed is just fine. We’re only 2 evenings further.

Harsh or not, your post contained some comments which hit the spot.

This may be a ‘free’ game - but it has been developed to make a profit. There are people who need to be paid wages, there are servers, offices and other bills. In order to keep a large multiplayer bill running - a certain level of income needs to be achieved. If it isn’t, the publisher will eventually shut down the game and you no longer have your free to play.

The method in which they have chosen to acquire this income in SCon has so far proven fairly reasonable. It’s not overly pushy and it doesn’t give you a massive advantage, You can compete just fine without ever paying a penny. (Or cent for you uncultured barbarians)

That said, if you are in a position where you are able to pay without it having a negative effect on your personal life, I would advice you to do so. There are some low-entry packs available (such as the lowest pack on Steam) which are excellent value for money. If you sink 200 hours into the game, 15 quid (or bucks, yeah yeah stop complaining!) isn’t such a bad deal.

I for one would love to see them introduce a number of ‘skins’ for ships (corporation colours & stickers are my wet dream atm) as I would happily fork out more cash for that. It’s the largest segment of income for Riot in League of Legends and it does absolutely nothing to give anyone an advantage in-game.

I really don’t mind kicking in a few bucks for a game I enjoy, and almost always pay for at least a month of access up front if I play for an hour or so and like the game.  If it means subsidizing lots of other players who really can’t afford regular payments due to age (permissions from parents?) or circumstance (in some countries I think internet cafes still exist and they represent an investment of sorts in the worldwide internet).

The extra creds for paying - 50% according to the few accounts I’ve seen tracked here - is really a thank you.  It is significant on the surface and may help me get lower tier ships faster, but at the higher tiers that 2-6 million per ship, plus upgrades, is painful for everyone.

I really like that idea of being able to skin your ship.  I perma-skinned every tank I loved playing in WoT.  I can’t remember how much it cost but it was real money.  It removed some of the beige sameness limited game models can evoke, seen in numerous battles.

It shall forever be a mystery to me why the Devs make it as hard as possible to spend money on this game…

The whole idea of “make it grindy, piss people off, charge over odds for a licence to reduce the grind” is a very… eastern idea, one that doesn’t really seem to have caught on in the west. Western audiences seem far more receptive to cosmetics, perks and quirks. One of the reasons I like the Premium ships is that they aren’t just short-cuts; they’re distinct ships with their own unique traits. They might be small things, but my Scout can crit higher than my Dwarf 2 ever could, at the expense of not really being as good at scouting and harassment.

I really hope they get their act together, because it seems they have no long-term monetisation plan - it’s all “new players should buy DLC… and then there’s nothing else worth buying.”

Seriously, I bought the Mercenary pack off Steam - the one with the Desert Eagle. Between the DLC ships and the Month-long license I bought with the Gold Standards, I don’t need to spend any more money, and couldn’t if I wanted to because there really isn’t anything left to buy.
