This topic is about name changes in-game, not on the forums.
I get it: at the end of the day, you’re a company that needs to make money just to keep this game alive, and for reasons already covered in other topics, star conflict’s playerbase is a shell of what it once was. Here’s one small solution to make a little more money while simultaneously making players happy: allow players the ability to change their display name once a month for an amount of GC of your choosing. You make money from people having a large incentive to purchase GC, players who regret their current name or thought of a better one get what they want; everyone wins. Of course, everyone’s login username would remain the same. I’ve seen this done in other games - sometimes for free, sometimes for a charge - and it’s worked well for all of them, on both the consumer’s and company’s ends.
What are your thoughts on this?
I haven’t yet used my one free name change, but…you mean I’ll stop being targeting a tad more by forum members than non forum members? I’m at least hoping it’s comradery.
And yeah, I’ve wondered about a name change, even if everyone on the forum knew it.

Currently you can do it only once a year i think? So the suggestion is probably for monthly ability to change names. I’m not sure what to vote tbh, tho i could have some fun by changing to funny stuff, but i don’t want some random guy show up and take the name i currently have while i’m using a derivate of it.
So my suggestion is also the ability to reserve the original name before changing it, meaning have a display name every now and then for your tastes and return to your original when you’re done with it.

Edit: Nevermind, this already seems to be in-game, as people above have said. Right click your name in the hangar, and the first time’s free. There’s a GC icon with “0” after it, so I assume that after the first time, like people have said, you have to pay for it.
Anyone know how much it costs? I’ll probably never change the name, for better or worse, but I am curious.
