Discussion of New changes in the Matchmaking system

So now the ships will face their equals? Good.

But now you SERIOUSLY need to focus on drawing in new players and not losing old ones or we’ll get 6 minute queue times again.

A good step in the right direction. Now the low tiers will be somewhat protected from the tier 14-15 sealclubers. Thumbs up for this one Targem. I don`t mind waiting 5 minutes for a match as long as it is fun and balanced. You should consider giving people the option to use the MK1, 2, 3 old system if they so desire. Not everyone will agree with me.

your game is very fun.
we enjoy each news ![:)](<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/001j.png “:)”)
honestly I do not like two alien ships as shapes and design. -Here worth remuncit and redesigned.
Instead I would like a line of open space alien ships. and more ships on all levels ![:)](<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/001j.png “:)”)
I like the idea of fighting ships that you have that are destroyed if not to join the fight.

  • would welcome the idea of open space where epic battles to fight even 1000 players ![:)](<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/001j.png “:)”)
  • ships to change during the fight. such a ship as an octopus which has a form when moving and when it stops to fight to change their shape.
  • another idea for the crew. a small ship can be driven by a pilot, but a great ship needs commander and crew (engineer, gunner, driver, etc.) - something like World of Tanks. The more complex the better ![:)](<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/001j.png “:)”)
  • I’d like the many battles with players. I imagine such a large ship Interceptor conveyor driven by a player. and I get out of the hangar with my interceptor ![:)](<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/001j.png “:)”)

if u also stop forced us to play in the team would be great

Noone force you to play in team. The teamwork missions are optional, like the monocrystal missions in OS. One is rewarding the OS play the other reward the teamplay.

In case of the Teamwork mission yes they are “optional” but somehow you need them for a bit of progress depending on what the mission reward is. Sometimes i whish that i just could “aboard” a mission of a contract cus the numbers are quite insane sometimes (200 interceptor kills/assists for 30 xenos example) while it gives equal missions that want 150 or 200 kills/assists but without of a team or ship class to kill. For me it´s already a pain to play these PvP ones cus i simply can´t befriend myself with this mode for some reason.

Monos on the other hand are quite a “must have” thing cus you need it simply for the crafting process and without Monos you can craft the “neat” stuff. Personally i don´t really like this daily SCL mission for the 4 Monos cus again it´s PvP related.

I would rather prefer to give the option to fullfill missions over both ways but without of the requirement to take down shipclass xy but therefore the double amount of ships (or maybe even triple for balancing reasons). Altough why must the missions be played as a team? Aren´t the mm “creates” these teams already? So why this extra requirement as well? It´s not so that i don´t fly in group with my Corp it´s more so that most of us simply prefer the PvE mode while PvP isn´t that much liked or better said no one really wanna play the R15 ships anymore that i need to play in order to gain the points for the (most) contracts lol.

It all comes down to:

  • Longer Queues
  • less diversity, meaning less choices and less ways to counter an enemy.
  • Extensive Cookie cutting population, due to the exploiting of the lack of diversity.
  • The old Queue system gave the meta a new way to fit your ships, wich resulted in fits being flyable that werent before.
  • Ships like -> Black Bomber, Prometheus Fire, Loki, Anaconda MkII (actually many more), actually complemented the “high difficulty tier”, by offering diversity of tank, size and maneuverability.
  • The big outcry about the lower rank ships not having any chance against r15, just shows me that the ppl that the devs listen do, don’t know how resistances & damage boni work.

The 3 Queue patch, was responsible for one of the best metas in a long long time. Ofc when all the new ships were added it got rather unbalanced, but that was because the ships themselfes were unbalanced and you knew that very well. I feel sad for all the new players, in the end it not only is grindy but also a waste of time sitting in queues for battles full with cookie cutting morons who will know exactly what ships to fit to exploit the newest loophole.

I will be back when the next StarGem intern gets a job for community management and it will be glorious. Just have a look at the list of ppl you listened to in the last 2 years. Your teams sense of intuition is that good, that you took ppl into your mods /testers that leak information. I tell you a secret; a heathy community makes a game good. That includes their makers and the minions of the makers and the customer, who btw MORE than deserves to know to get what he pays for. Bundles are disgusting but a perfect representation of the random nature of this game development.

I know you don’t like my tone, unfortunatly i cannot format my opinion, to fit into your demise.

The MM still handle the teams separately. If I know well (its always changing) if you go in with a 4 squad there should be another 4 squad (or maybe 3 is enough) in queue otherwise you’ll never get a game.
I guess if they make too many queues we’ll have almost no chance to face against another squad. In the 3 queue system it was hard, we queued for R10 and faced against medium and hard enemies. The only problem was the tharga spam. After facing against 4 tharga teams + 1-3 extra random thargas no matter what ship do you bring you can’t win. So we really need the team missions to speed up the queues for the teams. OR we need autosquadding, and forget the BS that teamplay is OP and need to make impossible to play in team.

They didn’t learnt a really important lesson. Good feedback is the best advertisement. If you tell your friend to join to you and play together. Currently if you invite a friend and try to play together, you don’t get games in low tiers.

The diversity of the ships are limited some of the missions are harder or just doesn’t worth to do (like 150 destros) but most of them easily doable since assist already count as kill. I don’t play SCL because its boring and unbalanced, no matter how much mono I could get from there. Xeno, mono, fappidium you actually need all of them if you want to build your ships and modules.

If they want to reward the SCL players, its ok for me, I can simply ignore those missions. they need to add missions like that to populate that boring gamemode.

Listen, we had a group of 3 pilots in a squad. We had to wait for 7 minutes to get a match. Such wait time is unacceptable.

I do not want to wait for another 3-4 men squad to be matched up with. I prefer the system, when 2 2-men squads can be match to 1 3-men squad or 4-men squad.

This can be duplicated more than once, so we may have 2 such squads, then we compensate for the numbers on the other team. If you don’t want to do this, do this for T5, at least.

Another matter…

Iridium is basically non-existent. You may get it from purple loot spots, but that’s it. Before we used to get 100 Iridium from 1 such loot spot in T5, then it was 50 and now it’s 22. Random Iridium won’t be found later. Same goes for neodium and beryllium ore. It’s much harder to get now. To make matters worse, you can’t find monocrystals in loot anymore. So that means that you can only get 8+6=14 monocrystals, if you play Leagues on a daily basis, with a license.

Iridium needs to be more accessible.

Put it back in Open Space, or make an option that you can salvage any Mark 4 item for either components or Iridium, but not both.

P.S.: Instead of Neodium plate, I once found neodium ore in a Mysterious Container. That’s surely a good incentive to keep looking for more. xD

Way way back (around 3 years or so) Iridum was much easier obtainable then nowadays… I remember it quite well that it basicly was possible to find an artifact after every 2-3 rounds via loot in the blue spots and this is what now is missing… it´s not so that we can´t dump the iridium in other sources then these crates now (even if i don´t know how much it influences the dread builds) but anyhow now we only can wait to find a “good” crate and open it in hope to get the rare stuff that we can trade cus everything else is crap and everyone owns it anyways.

In terms of the ores i heared now several rumors that it should still (or maybe again) be obtainable over PvP/PvE/Co-Op during looting (even with unmaxed syn ships). But if this is true or not i can´t confirm cus i currently haven´t looted any Bery or Neo from my ships since the change. So either the rumors are false or they simply reduced the drop rates a lot to make os still “more attractive” for those who enjoy it anyways lol… but if i think about it those who fly OS anyways i hear/read them now complaining that they gain to much Neo/Berry ore but look for something else while at the same time they wonder themself why i can fly litteraly for 1 hour straight in OS and only find 2-3 ores all the time in the very same sector at another region that isn´t “occupied” lol.

I’m pretty sure I found Iridium, Neo and Bery in my matches yesterday. Cannot remember how many were in ppurples.

Afair in Spec Ops neo dropped for me. Didn’t played PvE/P for a while, so can’t tell about those.
Not in purple spots thought.

What does the discussion about loot drops have to do with the MM discussion?

Any interest in staying on topic?

Yesterday evening 3man squads didn’t worked around 9 PM CET. Not a good sign.

And these differences could frighten the new players… just my opinion

i totally agree that for new players splitting medium queues was maybe better, especially between r5,r6 and r9. As experienced player, as i tried my tharga first time on r5-r6, i could utilize the other r6i brought against r9 in the same way i could utilize a r10 in a r15 match, but it was a lot harder overall, just to stay effective. so of course the buff system does not completely solve the lack of modules in lower ranks - but it does help.

I think the majority of anger is towards splitting R11+; R11-R13 were always competing with the same population as R15. In that arena, the powerful new ships, and the buffs together for R10-R12 basicly earning niche roles, similar to how the very very long played T3 (still in tournaments) in the old times created a nice meta between numerous R8 and R9, together the higher ranks form a quite good and satisfactory meta. Which just became a bit invisible in the last weeks, because basicly most games were around thargas, darts and gargoyles.

The beauty of an endgame would be, that t4 can be used forever, while to be honest, t4 should not be treated as “new player” territorry. If you rank to R9 with all factions, unlocking everything to R15 does not even need you to play much hard tier, so there is no problem sticking around in r9. And there is simply not enough gameplay change overall, to satisfy t4 as its own tier.

In fact, with the rank bonuses, even beloved r9 ships could sometimes be along for the ride, and really participate in r15. but nobody should be forced to play that, it should be optional to bring them up. lower than r9 however, you are definitely hurting yourself and your team, so there should be some lower restriction, but ±3 is not enough in endgame.

the best way to keep endgame fun, is by keeping the brutal players where they can truly hunt those, who want to hunt back.

tbh. after careful thought about the concept, it seems to me now, the main problem for the queue split in hard, is the lack of importance of the r11 destros. Which is not a problem of those ships. its basicly just r14 destros are way deadlier toys in this ellydium age.

I also think, before mixing around with queues, they simply should fix the mix of ranks of ships: in hard battles, any ship above r10 should simply be usable. people in the endgame should be able to squad, even mixing any kind of r10+ ship. Maybe we need a “set difficulty” option. the only reason for restricting squads to match highest rank was to disallow people to bring in underpowered ships, before they had rank buffs. If R15 queue would allow use of any rank above or equally to R10, i am even fine with a r13 queue, if you people really think that works.

But without some diversity of ships, possibilities, etc. R15 is boring cookie cutting bs. and underuses even the ships it has to the most part. Mixing in R10+ however creates lots of little niche fits and different strategies, creating more interesting games, especially utilizing the rank buffs. Which people do! Not just me. Not just experienced players.

I just want to play the game, according to my play-age, on the hardest level, with lots of people, with friends, and with some choice in what ships i bring. I don’t want to farm bad players, I want to farm the good ones, those, who farm me back more often. I want player retention. And there are enough players so that everybody could be happy in r15, if it would not constantly be a boring one sided meta with little choices, except the few OP toys.

The problem is that too few players to rank 10-13.
This needs further investigation why not come new ones, to fill the hole there.
It is because there is not so much content?,with an average 500 players online all risk to a microscopic game, that hardly can you see it on Steam.

Why are you surprised? You have been here tha last 3 years, this is what we had, this is waht we got again…

Who even uses steam for SC, everyone is on the launcher.

Bom bom matey I found the game on Steam and found no reason to use the launcher? Didn’t even know it came in a launcher until a few years later

As for Gargoyle, I’ve played 1 PvP and got 19 kills with just a standard positron no special mods except his disintegrator 1.5x 2.5x. Probably a whole bunch of ranking up players in under equipped ships etc. Imagine it with Boson and repeater!

I found it via google lol, garg is really something else, you can go meson on someone with it xD
