Developer Blog from September 29: Improvements in module upgrade system

what bottle neck?

A 1060 SLI?(pls dont kill me)

I read through this and again:

FUFU CHANGE SUCK
I’m not ranting. I’m writing the truth.

>>
During trophy search pilots can now get a Mk.1 level module. Mk.2 and Mk.4 kits will no longer be in the game.<<

You state clear:
No resources.
No Iridium.
No Mk2/Mk4 easy upgrades.
Mk 1 level? Are you trolling? This xxxx is trash nothing more. You can’t salvage it and it sell for far less as it cost!
So to gain resources, you need to invest over 0.5M credits(buying this trash mk 1+ upgrade it to level 2) to gain the same as before.
Now you introduce a limit how much voucher you can farm per day?
Are you serious?
Now with requiring it for Mk3 AND Mk4?
With even an indirect penalty for farming voucher? (You don’t farm the same amount for the pool as for directly selected module farm)
And you even introduce a xxxx interface for this ‘awesome’ change?
Are the newbies so dumb?

Only good thing I read so far: Iridium is now a valuable thing with buying container for monos/ship parts/whatever.

For the moment, I see no problem in the new system. And I think it’ll allow to keep the track of what you have and what you want instead of just stacking them over and over until you need it.

Regardless, I’m just never going to start “research” on anything just so I can still use the old system to some extent.

Okay Cinnamon, if I chose a module to upgrade, will I still get extra vouchers put in the resource pools?

Otherwise this is actually a nerf like everyone is saying, because that’s the dumbest thing ever.

I expect with this patch to get at least 2x the vouchers for every task because of this requirement, and then without a module  selected get normal amounts.

mk1 module drops in loot is now uder discussion, this may be changed

There’re no 0,5M credits for the upgrade, I don’t know where it comes from. new upgrades will be cheaper then they’re now. The contract are dailies, but you can earn loyalty in fights as well right into needed module <<

Hopefully. Because you literally nerf a big resource income out of players.

To the other:

I will post screens to explain.

Less loyslty in this case. The game will remind you to chose module for upgrade before you’re going into battle<<

Okay I will do the math:
You gain 200 from contract.

a) You don’t choose module and just play → 200 into pool. +200 pool
b) You just choose a module even you don’t need it/you don’t know what you really want to focus on. → 200 into module + from fight. +0 pool.

So after introducing new modules etc.
You start with a) +200 in the pool.
You start with b) 0 in the pool.

The current system don’t penalize you.
The coming ‘will’ do it as you think everytime ‘damn! I don’t want to loose fictive voucher because I didn’t choose a random-maybe not even wanted-module to upgrade!’. And if you choose so, you will be penalized later as you have less in the pool to upgrade it faster(or even immediately). Nice not?

The solution is simple,if you have a module you dont want to upgrade just get rid of it,and when you feel like upgrading it buy it and do that, also Cinnamon said the game reminds you,not forces you, right?

The Op was crystal clear, i dont know why so many questions about something that had been already answered. Me, i got my answers. Thanks for the clarifications on the futur system. Keep up the good work.

I am not happy about this proposed patch. I see it as a huge nerf that will only hurt the overall game community. Our player numbers are lower than they have been in while. We have so many new players complaining about how slow progression is, and yet this patch slow progression even further.

This will not hurt the long term player as much as it will hurt the new players. This is not an improvement. This is a game ruiner.

This system will not touch me. I am out of his reach.

However, putting a daily limit or penalty on vouchers, if you don’t have an upgrade selected and with only one active at the same time is a mistake.

Concerns are well justified.

This is bad for people like me.

Please stop trolling. The whole idea of this new system is to speed up the process of upgrading your modules at the cost of removing Mk2 and Mk4 upgrade kits (read - limit salvage possibilites) from game.

Also you are saying about this player numbers every single time. Please stop speculating like that. You have no means to verify that, especially when in the next sentence you are writing about “so many players”. You had some leeway because you were supporting new players for some time, but even those that were defending you are running out of patience.

From now on, please stick to the forum rules, I will not defend you anymore.

How about any upgrade kits we already have, we keep. U just don’t get new ones. I think otherwise you give unfair advantage to older folks. I just got into the game, a week ago. Its already very painful. I can’t even use most of the kits I have yet… If you remove them, you will punish new players even more. Please don’t do it. I want to be able to compete with older players, and not be punished for joining your game recently. I need those upgrade kits to work, or instead of weeks, I’m looking at months of grind. I have already invested into your game. I like it enough to invest more. But I’m not certain this will remain true, if you punish me for simply playing it. Thank you.

I mean, maybe I’m missing something, looking at comment above, and this new system helps me get to purple gear faster. I just don’t understand something? The way I understand your proposal, is what you remove my purple upgrade kits, leaving me stuck with green and grey modules, and no way to upgrade, unless I find some kind of resources. I would hate that, being stuck with green and grey gear for months at a time.

Regarding resources, I’m already discouraged. I would like to get a destroyer tier 8… but at the rate I’m getting drops, it will be 2-3 months before I farm enough, which is rather too much for a tier 8 (essentially outdated vessel, do to higher tiers). Worse part, I can’t even just buy what I need in bundles, cause it seems like a lottery. I do not gamble. I would pay up to 50-60$ for that outdated ONE vessel, simply cause I’m a gamer… although. Well its just too much for a single game item, tier 8, considering I could buy a brand new game on steam for same price. But ok, I would do it anyway, but then, its a gamble. This kinda kills the insentive for me to buy the bundle. If you make modules just as difficult to upgrade as getting a destroyer, well, it just kinda kills the game for me.

On that note, I created the account with 2 of my friends, so 3 ppl started out. The grind was so insane, what out of 3 ppl who joined your game last week, I’m the only one still playing it. My other 2 friends, found the game to be really fun, but way too grindy and cumbersome to invest the time it demanded to make any progress. All 3 of us, are gamers, and play lots of games, so that should say something.

Anyway, those are my thoughts. Thank you for your time, Cheers

We can’t say anything about if that gonna slow down everyone till the update is not released, cin say that will be cheaper than before so AGAIN wait the release. How will you feel if you guys wrong?

Some people just want to play the game without playing it.

I think that the whole sistem developed over the last months was a mess and not easy to handle. If those changes will mean that we will have an easyer progression for new players: ok, I’m totally fine with it.

Just please don’t add more and more materials to collect or missions hard to know that they even exists ![:p](<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/004.png “:p”)

I like current loot system because i can get mk2 loot -> salvage it and get enough resources to craft ammo so i can keep playing PvP without any need to be forced to play modes I don’t like (PvE/Open Space) Since mk2 loot is going to be removed, hopefully drop chances of basic materials are greatly increased after winning a battle so i can still maintain it).

I am definitely not going to go out of my way to farm basic mast just to craft ammo for PvP.

You gotta remember tho that the more trash loot you get after battles, the less useful loot you get. So with more parts, you have a lesser chance for ship parts or Iridium or other more useful items.

“As far as I know for now, there’ll be not iridium loot in OS, like it was before”

Why?

I just hope there is adequate compensation for no longer being able to get resources from salvage, building the craftable ships in the current system is already a ludicrous grind. It bothers me that I have sunk almost 1000 hours into this game and too much money and its still a grind. Oh well, I guess I just can’t leave this abusive relationship.
