Developer Blog from March 17th: New premium ships and a new build system

How is it related?

Something like: new stuff coming over the last new stuff that didn’t happen yet. Ik T5 destros are on their way, but there’s no new light on what’s happening with the rest of the stuff in the previous blog.

Ikr it went straight from “we have detailed plans for the future of OS and dreadnought battles” to “hey guess what: Destroyers!”

I like the approach. More pvp / pve / coop

As it is now OS is not as fun as it could be. OS need more difficult and complex missions. Covering various sectors and take you to get the resources they can find only in OS

But what you say implies that the whole team work on a same feature/content/bug, one thing at a time. In reality scheduling and managment of a dev team is dynamic and flexible, one week you have 99% resources on one thing, and other you have 5× things with 20%.

For all you know there could be 10 directions/areas in development and only 5 dev blogs about them or none or w/e

Ik, what i don’t know is how many they are, my guess is not that many since we only get 1 thing at a longer period of time with bugfixes and tweaks in-between.

I’m not complaining, don’t misunderstand, i’m just suggesting it would be very useful if they keep everything in check. That communication part that’s been aflame a while ago, but i’m in no way that drastic (don’t need to go EQN style lol).

Anyway, on a closer analysis about this blog, i like that i’m seeing sort of a closer and closer approach on one of Kine’s very very old suggestions that i supported, the ability to customize your ship the way you want fully. If you remember that thing where for each ship class you would choose one specialization line or a jack-of-all-trades and improve it with ranks. Well done.

This gives me an idea. I’ll put it in a spoiler because it doesn’t belong to this dev blog, but if anyone shows interest, i’ll make it a suggestion topic to discuss.

Think of chained missions related to one another, somewhat like following a storyline, harder, escalating maybe, with bigger rewards and even consistent loot on-site, not just hitting ‘complete’ in hangar. They don’t have to be overly complex, just… different.

Example: you are sent to protect a convoy, you get attacked, and while you defend there’s an enemy ship ninja boarding the cargo ship and stealing the cargo, then rushing off in a nearby sector - you get to chase it where it meets with it’s own waiting convoy and guards and fight them, you get to loot and in the loot you find a hint for a hidden base, which you go to destroy / inspect / loot / something. It’s close to the stage system in some of the pve missions, but happens in OS and it’s chained with no loading. Also, make it possible to fail it as well, like losing trail of the ship that stole the cargo, or early completion like catching it from behind. Now, what if that ship is a recon and warps away and you didn’t spy drone it? Well, loss, you oughta be prepared. And these missions could be shared between multiple members or actually request you to complete them in a group. Make OS get some more meaningful action.

idea totally not stolen from Eve

I. Want. The. Gunship. Just can’t wait to equip it with even MOAR close range blue balls to make it the most op dogfighter ever seen in the frontier sectors!

Oh and, i forgot to mention one thing, 6 monos per day is really bad given how many stuff there is that needs monos for crafting. Question for the devs:

Is there any possibility in the near future for the non-premium players to get like 9 (3 monos per mission) and one extra for completing all of them, soo 10 in total per day? 15 for premium players? Its just a small buff but it could mean a lot for those players who actively collect them day by day.

Yeah something like that, but coded into SC by corporations for recruitment  :004j:

It’s called specops and leagues.

With leagues you can get up to 12 a day + specops.

Specops gets you a max of three if you’re lucky. And leagues is hard af when you don’t have a dedicated team for it. You get maybe 4-5 wins per session if you’re lucky.

Then git gud.

Sorry, i was just referring to open space.

That sounds like premium ship exclusive weapons, modules and abilities… which makes me a bit sceptical. Looking forward to see the new ship models, though!

Very soon new premium ships will be added to the game. The main difference of the new ships from other premium vessels is that pilots will be able to build these ships from special parts — resources unique to each one. The required resources will be available during ‘Trophy search’ after battles in PvP, PvE and COOP modes. Thus, the new premium ships can not only be bought with premium currency, but also assembled from parts with the only requirement being effort to find the necessary resources.

The new ships will have unique designs and new active modules. Today we’re going to tell you about this in more detail.

In the coming weeks we are going to release three new premium ships. A rank 13 Imperial engineering frigate, a rank 10 Federation gunship and a rank 7 Federation guard frigate.

The new ship build system

Pilots can build all new ships from unique resources called ‘Parts’. Unique resources can be acquired by picking up ‘Parts’ in PvP, PvE and COOP game modes in ‘Trophy search’ after the battle.

Each pilot will be able to choose the most convenient game mode. You can also collect the necessary ‘Parts’ by alternating modes. In addition, to save time, ‘Parts’ will be available in special bundle containers, which are also being updated.

In the ship tree pilots can see which ‘Parts’ are necessary for assembly of the ship they need, and monitor their progress. This is where you can learn the locations of the necessary resources. When all the parts have been assembled, the ship’s icon is highlighted and you can start building.

If you’re short on resources, you can buy missing parts in special bundle containers at the store.

Unique features of the new ships

All new ships will have unique opportunities in the form of special modules and weapons.

For example, the Imperial engineering frigate will get a special module that can repairs hulls of allies. The module will generate a beam that can be used to support ships in battle, while remaining at some distance behind them.

Also, the frigate will receive a new universal weapon, that can restore shields of allies and deal damage to enemies at the same time.

The Federation gunship will receive a special module, extended to ‘Plasma Blade’. This will allow pilots to ram enemies. This unique active module is very effective against hulls of larger ships.

The new Federation guard frigate will receive a unique special module which dramatically enhances shield resistances. The ship then automatically becomes the target for nearby enemies. The unique active module of this frigate restores his shield from incoming EM damage.

Of course, it’s not all about the future of the new ship build system. We shall return to this topic in our future developer blog. Stay with us. Follow the news, play Star Conflict!

Looking forward to your comments!

Sincerely,

Star Conflict Team

I see the Axe… :)

I think these ships will be like the jericho Nyx was last year. Their introduction might be followed by some story similarly to Miss Summer’s case with the Nyx.

Anyone know what the alarm.tv stream was?

I hope it had the new ships in it bc I really really really wanna see them in action.

Specops gets you a max of three if you’re lucky. And leagues is hard af when you don’t have a dedicated team for it. You get maybe 4-5 wins per session if you’re lucky.

If you are lucky (very lucky) you can get 3 ship parts in one day =up to 75 monos.

League - if you are getting 5 wins per 2 hours it gives you 30-45 monos in one day, once in 6 days.

If you are very lucky, you can make 100 monos in OS…

Sorry that’s just plain BS. They aren’t reliable sources.

The only calculation you can do with mono are the daily missions. Everything else is just luck.
