Developer Blog from December 10th: Destroyers!

I have a only one question how many monocrystals i need to manufacturing the destroyer???

can’t say it now. But requirements are much easier than requirements of current craft ships.

 

 

Just quick question - I have hoarded some monos, should I save them or spend them now as there definitely will be change in economics?

will there be a limit of the number of destroyers in a battle? Is this something that due to a massive hitpoints and damage output difference will make it impossible for me to solo carry games in a gunship when equally skilled players are present in a destroyer? Why are you going to make me do open space missions for monocrystals? Isn’t putting this behind a material gathering grindwall that most (but not myself) are unable to accomplish a pretty blatant way of gating powerful content that can give a potentially unfair advantage? Is this ship type pandering towards the people in this game who just want to farm defenseless new players like it was a pve dungeon?

I am understandibly worried. I understand your desire to continue expanding this game but please don’t xxxx this up. In exchange I’ll approach it and evaluate it fairly before complaining if warranted once it is released, but please just don’t xxxx this up. Despite its problems I like this game, please don’t make me regret investing time.

I absolutely cannot wait until the new ship comes out! I’m jumping up and down in my hanger in anticipation!

This will certainly change the game significantly, and I think it will make the game even more interesting (can this game get any better?!?).

This. This is what we were hoping dreadnought would be… Pilotage big ships! Please don’t disappoint us this time!!

My worries:

-will they fit in the maps? (all of them…)

-will people spam them?

-will we see destroyers balls?

-what will be their role in each of the game modes?

-how are they different to a big jeri guard with different modules?

-will the cost not be too excessive?

-why only rank 8 and not other ranks?

-all of Katovskiy worries above

-and most importantly, are they customisable? I want a pink one!! :smiley:

I still want my personal, pilotable dreadnought and the ability to bring it to Special Ops Sector - Defiler, Destroyer!

There’s that spaceships game, you can pilot a HUGE battleship, and the hangar is very tiny when you compare it with your huge thing.

Maybe intis get a damage boost against this beast? or they can get into its blind spot. (maybe it even has a “ventilation tunnel” à la Death Star… :D)

The first of the new ships are rank 8 Destroyers. To manufacture them, you will need to gather standard resources as well as a special new resource — neodium, which is only used to build destroyers. 

 

Wonderful… yet another resource to grind in a game with too much grind to begin with… At least it won’t be as grindy as SP ships (or so you say)…

 

Can you disclose any info on how we’re supposed to get Neodium (i know you said you wont disclose about the ships, but neodium isn’t technically the ship. :P)? Will it be like monocrystals where you have to go around doing daily missions? Or will it be something more related for lootable pickups in pvp/pve?

it’s not about adding dmg against it or getting in it’s blind spot…

This kind of ships should  NOT have teleportation modules.

Aren’t super testers supposed to recognise what is completely broken and inform the developers if this will work out or not?

Or they are forced to reply possitively to any new change?

My thoughts too.

 

I’ve got mixed feelings about destroyers. Something tells me they are going to become the new frigball, regardless of whatever measures the devs take to prevent that. It happened with frigs despite whatever nerfs were done to them, and it will happen with destroyers, i can guarantee it. The only way I see that destroyer-balls won’t happen is if you limit the number of them allowed on a team (which wouldn’t be a terrible idea).

And therein poses a problem, what are interceptors supposed to do then? Nothing… exactly. All the ships in the game need to be able to fight each other in some way or another, and from the sounds of what has been released, destroyers will become the new frigball and basically ruin interceptors.

Will they be usable in open space? They’d better be.

Maybe if the wormholes are complained about too much they could be restricted to open space. But if not keep them because something that slow needs a mode of transport.
