No one forces T2 pilots to go there. In fact, should they try, there will even be a warning.
Which, once again, brings us back to the question: “Why is it available to anyone below R10?”

The only good thing about this is that we can finally play in four-man squads. Yes, we’ll be massacred against T5 ESB Death-Squads, but well, one can hope and pray things end well.
I like the new system.
Which, once again, brings us back to the question: “Why is it available to anyone below R10?”
And again, the answer is:
For R5 to see what they can achieve, should they stop staying at T2.
For newbie corps still to have chance to get something.

Which begs the follow-up questions: “Why?” “How?” and “You do realise that sarcasm doesn’t come across in written word, right?”

That really sounds like you are trying to drive people away from the game… which given our current player base is the last thing you should be doing!
Either don’t let them take part, or let them take part in a more limited capacity (ie: the way I suggested - T3 can only control minor sectors; T5 get the really awesome stuff).
But saying “Yeah, you CAN come and get curbstomped!” is just… it’s a scumbag move. If people have “stopped playing” at T2 you shouldn’t be trolling them and trying to make them feel worthless; you should be asking them (and yourselves) why they have stopped at T2, and then looking to see if anything can be done to help them keep moving up and onward.
4. Everyone has a story
A mistake in MMOs, as far as I’m concerned, is the focus on the top players. When all you hear about is how Level 120s can 3-hit Lord Baal The Unpleasant, no recognition is given to the Level 20 who managed to beat the Pyro-Hydra for the first time.
With this model, every Corp can potentially play a role. Even the smallest of Corps can have a shot at holding a territory and thus leave their mark on the map. This means that, even if you’ll never challenge the big boys or build a large Corporate empire, you and your buddies can see your emblem alongside the big dogs and feel like your contribution mattered.
This is a very good point.
besides the incentive to play the game further I also hope to see an overall better quality of players and teamplay through this. (just had one who was turning his heals on/off permanently again -.-)

We’ve already commented, that we will monitor the situation with T2 after installation of this update. Should there be need to change anything with ranks, that can enter the battle it will be changed.
Thank you for your suggestion, once again.

Newbies won’t have the chance to do ANYTHING if they’re pitted agaisnt T5 Death Squads. It’s that simple. It’ll drive them AWAY from the game, not incentivate them to keep playing.
I’m… I’m at a loss, here. You clearly hear us, but you only hear what you WANT to hear and ignore everything else. I… xxxx this. Why bother!?
I still don’t see why you’d allow T2 in in the first place. Isn’t T2 a “training” tier? As such, what exactly are T2 pilots going to learn by flying in Sector Conquest beyond “lol gtfo back to CoD n00b!”?
Monitoring the situation… yeah, that’s all well and good, but it’s also a cop out. Why Rank 5? It feels so arbitrary - Rank 7 and up at least makes sense; R7 is the first of the “proper” game tiers after all. Even Rank 4 would make more sense (all of T2), or just Rank 6 (where players should be preparing to enter the main game), but R5? By Dev Logic, R5 pilots are still meant to be learning the game!
So yeah… if nothing else, posting your logic would be good here.
We have already explained our logic. Should you not like it - ok, thank you for your personal opinion, we will take it into account. As well as opinions of other players. You have provided us with feedback on the matter. Do you have anything else to say regarding the system?

Not sarcasm. I like the new system because:

Nerf Imperial Gunship.

Well, it’s technically been said already, but the system as proposed looks horribly self-defeating. Consider:
T2, T3, T4 and T5 players jump into Sector Conquest.
ESB comes in with T5 kill-squads. Because T2 / T3 are the majority, most games pit T2/T3 vs these T5 squads.
T2 / T3 get farmed and quit. Matchmaking time increases.
Longer matchmaking annoys players, who quit. Matchmaking time increases further.
Remaining players are now horribly polarised. Because the strongest squads are Empire, more players move to Empire to get “easy wins”. This means less players to face the Empire, which means longer matchmaking.
Longer matchmaking annoys players, who quit. Matchmaking time slows to an absolute crawl.
Ultimately, Sector Conquest dies - the only players trying to find matches are T5 pilots, but because the game won’t produce “civil war” matches it actually takes longer to find a T5 match than it does under the present system.
Then the Devs will make a poll asking why nobody likes Sector Conquest.
Compare that to my method:
T3 ships play T3 AND NEVER ANYONE ELSE! This encourages players to rock up in their best T3 ships and have fun, making Sector Conquest grow in popularity.
T3 ships cannot control the most important Sectors, and thus cannot obtain the best rewards. This encourages T4 and T5 matches (again, fixed tiers - T4 only fight T4), and pushes for people to move up the tiers.
This ensures that, at worst, matchmaking time will remain more or less the same; T5 will likely still have longer matchmaking due to lack of “civil war” matches, but T4 and T3 should be unchanged, if not experience superior matchmaking.

This! I predict the same.
And a whine-shitstorm that will fill the forums like never before.
But please, lets try this method. I bet the Patch-thread will archive 20 Pages in less than 24 Hours.
I think you didn’t read what you quoted actually xD. They have their opinion, you shown them your opinion. No need to post 10 times the same thing. You have to understand that it need experience + opinion of multiple players to change something.
I kinda like this patch, I won’t play the sector war (personal matters) but it sounds good. Except the part where T2 can join T5 battles (should be restricted to T4/T5). But there is at last an incentive for being good and go higher tiers (I know I won’t get there ^^’).

Sector Conquest will not include fixed tiers. We have already commented on that. Anything else?

Will there be credit/synergy rewards for the battles in SQ, too?

Here’s the thing though: If they have no intention of listening to, or acting upon feedback, why bother gathering feedback at all? Why not just spring the update on us and then stare blankly into space when a wave of negative feedback slams into them?
The smart thing to do is to use threads like these to spot where the potential flare points are - to note down what people jump on as potentially damaging, or flat-out stupid, and to change them before launch.
Unfortunately, this never happens. Ever.

What do you plant to do to Sector Conquest next month when this version is a ghost town?
Just consider the following:
