Developer Blog entry from November, 28th. Sector Conquest Update

in my experience, teams usually are dependant on the engineer, and there are far too few of them.

i think you fail to see the point. and no, they’re not entirely dependent on them in T3+, although they do provide a benefit. in T2 they die too fast to provide any benefit.

every time i end up on a team without a competent engie, in any mode, i lose. its why an engie has a constant spot in my lineup

Beta does have a good point. Besides, not every game mode requires an engie. Detonation, for instance, requires a completely different strategy. Of course, stuff like combat recon and CTB would need engies.

Same here, though when I need to level up another ship I make sure I don’t have an engie in my lineup. The urge to fly an engie can be too great sometimes.

Engineers are something of a double-edged sword. If you have a lot of engineers you probably lack in other areas, but too few and your Engineers are either focus fired or have to cower at the back so can’t get stuck in. Since in lower tiers “get stuck in” is the norm, it’s easy to see why they are not finding a fanbase among the up and coming players.

I still have a few questions:

  1. Do we get Synergy/Credits for fighting in sector Conquest?

  1. Can we Squad up there?

2.1. Can I Squad up with Corp Members?

2.2. Can I Squad up with Members of other Corps fighting for the same side (Like ESB + WPK both Empire corps)?

2.3. How will points for winning distributed in 2.2 (IF its possible)?

At least some engineers can take some focus fire

  1. Can’t comment on that atm.

  2. Yes, not just ‘Can’ - must.

2.1 Yes.

2.2 Yes.

2.3 Should be like that: One point per every member, points go to their related corps.  (this is a bit uncertain, we will try to get to you with the matter)

When you say we “must” squad up, do you mean we cannot fly solo in Sector Conquest, even if we are part of a Corp?

Thanks for the Answers!  :good:

I find the answer to #1 a bit odd…  just say if I have to stock up a few Mios to fly…

No, of course you can fly solo there. It’s just that it’ll be much harder to win on your own.

Very close to economical questions, so this matter I cannot comment on.

One more thing, it was asked on Russian forums, but we didn’t see question like this here:

‘What will happen if I change my corp’s allegiance if we already have some locations under control?’

Your corporation will loose all controlled locations.

I still have a few questions:

2.3. How will points for winning distributed in 2.2 (IF its possible)?

Just checked again: 2 ppl in squad, different corps. Both got 1 influence point for their respective corps.

I like how that “must” sounds  :good: corp battles will be nice

Just sounds to me like they’re trying to recapture the T3 / T4 attitudes of the fixed tier era…

Thanks a lot, thats good news! :good:

To be honest: It would be a pain if we wont get synergy in those battles, since I predict that the normal T4/5 queues will be even more empty and gaining synergy on T4/T5 ships in PVE -even with Premium and an insanely high fleet strenght- takes for ever.

I could understand if we wouldnt get credits/loot… its endgame afterall.

I just wish we had a bigger community, so both PvP and SConquest would have a reasonable amount of players, I fear after 1 week when the Empire has EVERYTHING the waiting time for a game will be stupidly long.

After 1 week of the new Sector Conquest, I highly doubt anyone will even dare to ally their corporation with Jericho nor Federation, thus this new mode will decay.

It may sound stupid, but what about reseting corporations allegiances and make a limit per faction? Like, idk, theres 100 corps right now (it’s just a number, I know there are more), there are 3 factions so 100 / 3 = 33,33, so 34 or 35 corps per faction. Want to avoid every good corp going for the same faction? Add also a “total points” (or something like that), so 35 factions with a limitation of “x” number of players total, or something like that.

NASA logo would look incredibly stupid on Jericho or Federation side, just as ridiculous as some Federation corp with Stock Jericho icon right now.

Yeah, statu quo all the life, hurrah!.

By the way, the logo system is plain bad, I mean, they should leave the players to choose their logos freely, doesn’t matter if you have to pay GS for that, but limiting over 100 corps to only 30 logos (or so) is bad.

yep, but it’s a fact and we must recognice it, the most dangerous corps are actually on empire, fed and jericho have some zerg corps and some decent corps but anything else
