Developer Blog entry from March, 5th. Tactical Map improvement and New PvE mechanics.

Greetings, pilots!

In today’s entry we will tell you about two things that await you tomorrow:

First off, we have improved tactical map display in the game — now it displays objects better due to its ‘ holographic ’ look.

Let’s look at an example of this change on the ‘Threshold’ battleground:

As you can see, the map has become more convenient for tactical navigation — this should allow our pilots to quickly find different routes and tactics for the battle.

Next, we would like to tell you about the upcoming new PvE scenario ‘Operation “Crimson Haze”’ , that introduces new mechanics to Star Conflict — facility construction and will be availible from Tier 2, It looks like this:
 

Defences can be mounted on these special platforms, as you can see. If only one pilot is building the cannon, the process will take more time, that in case with the whole team working on one defence spot. When construction is finished it is followed by a charactersitic ‘beep’ sound.

A T5 scenario where you average mentally challenged pubguy is capable of completing objectives is very desirable.

Tunnel is spelled, Tunnel. The picture claims it is spelt Tonnel. Nothing big, but we just saw that =)

Can we ban blackwood for a week to get people to play a different PvE?  Hopefully it’ll be popular enough early on to learn.  The biggest issue with Pirate Base isn’t difficulty, but learning the map and missions.  Queue times hurt it a lot as well but I know you can’t do too much to fix that.

 

Off topic, maybe an option for a random PvE queue as long as the mission offers loot for the highest tier flown by the pilots?  I’ve flown Processing Rig just for something different.  I don’t know how popular it would be, but it could help some of the lesser flown PvE missions.

I don’t think it’s really in their best interest to have T5 pilots swarm T3 Processing Rig (or even downtier to T1 Blackwood) for easy T5 loot, trivializing the mission for those really in those tiers.

But yes, I already said when it was introduced that it made little sense that with an R12 ship I can get (green) T5 loot in T4 PVE but with a T5 ship I cannot.

Another mission where you can ignore everything by using blindspots. Here are some exploits i’ve found for the developers to fix.

The Jericho stations have multiple blind spots where a ceptor can fly into and kill the station without risk.

You can fly an interceptor in between the barrels of the enemy turrets and they cant shoot you.

The beacons in the second stage have very effective hiding spots where an interceptor can fly into for a safe, guaranteed capture no matter how many enemy ships are around.

You can kill the turret platforms with impunity by shooting their undersides with Coil Mortar with no risk of return fire.

 

The most effective ways to beat this mission come through abusing game mechanics, the intended difficulty can be completely bypassed. this should be fixed.

Just trying to do my job as a beta tester, fix these and we’ll try to find the next best exploits and the cycle shall continue. . . .

Gonna go ahead and bum the new PvE out… it needs MAJOR tweeking. The enemies spawn in such numbers that player deaths become once every 2 minutes when I played it. I tried 6 times in total. All within an hour game session. I tried every version, but never succeeded. In the second stage the enemies also still spawn too rapidly making the capture near impossible. Then the third stage was only ever reachable once for me. When it was reached the cargo ships arrived as usual, but then there were the turrets. The friendly ones were impossible to build as the enemies shot you constantly almost never missing, coupled with the enemy turrets being in the line of fire too, meaning that ships can go down within seconds, even guards.

 

Sorry about my rambling. This may change as players become used to the map but currently its near impossible.

Played the T3 one using T5 ships and it was a tough fight. Tougher than T4 Blackwood. It also took a lot longer, so I think it needs tweaking.
