It’s getting to be really annoying. One team having 2-3 times as many DDs as the other team has is the norm right now. Either limit the number of destroyers a team can have at the same time or give them an hour repair time after each battle if it was destroyed at least once.
I say: No need to limit them. Just balance the number of players having destroyers in slots in teams (+/- 1 ofc). This way player can go PvP on any combination he wants.
What if i said to my tests destroyers gets %100+ more damage from every damage source?

Requires way more team work now and i think it upsets people. I agree there needs to be a fix to matchmaking so the number of desies on a team is not severly lop sided. But I will say team work makes more of a difference now I have had battles where I can take on cov-ops a destroyer prob a frig and survive a bit then I had battles where I get pasted by 2-3 frigs because they were smart and loaded up with a setup that kills destroyers. I think as time passes and as more people learn how to counter destroyers destroyers will be not as op.

You give a ship with insane manuverability a wepaon that powerful and no one complains they say its balanced I’m sorry but its not I say take away that arc weapon on those ships then its balanced. Also I would like to say just one of those ships can severly damage and cripple a destroyer so don’t come at destroyers saying they op because the most op ship is whatever ship that can carry that weapon.

No rank 5 or 6 ships never should be with rank 10 and mm needs to stop putting 8 destroyers on one side and only 2 on other. Destroyers are not OP its MM screwing everything up putting low rank ships with high ranked ships and putting way more Destroyers on one side and very few on opposing team. It is not the fact destroyers are too powerful its the fact that match maker does not know how to balance the teams.
You pt 2-3 destroyers on each team you get a fairly decent battle and fun.
Also if someone has a destroyer in there line up they get put on teams of 2-3 and 2-3 on opposing team along with similar ranked frigates and fighters… If they do not have a destroyer they just get put with others that do not within a 2-3 rank spread.
Be creative, never use the same gif/meme in 2 topics simultaneously, give at-least a month before re using same imgae/gif on forums.

IMO static barriers are too strong. Due to their low cooldown they are a great defense even against a destroyer who is close using meson cannon (i recall pushing my last 10% hull health by 30 secs in a 1vs1 destroyer fight (both with mesons), or same for my oponent). I got an invincible and im loving it, i think survb is ok, but static barriers are pushing it way too far. If these shields are a problem for meson destroyers, coilgun ones have a much harder time…now smaller ships without AoE are screwed up; the static barrier is like a “talk to the hand” to many frigates/fighters/interceptors.
I think static barrier cooldown should be increased substancially. This would also make destroyer pilots think better where to position their shields and not just left right click where they are shooting at.

Even some guns that do deal explosive damage can’t – Eclipse, for instance, doesn’t always damage through the barrier, and certain missiles aren’t guaranteed to hit behind it, either.

Because its wonky placement ellipse. Placing it “on top” will be closer than on sides or front. They are strong indeed (hp of average frig each) but destro model length compensates that and still you can damage it shooting exposed parts of the ship.
Imo, the main imbalance is amount of them. 2 destros vs 2 destros teams are ok, more of them turns game into fireworks show, same if one side has more destros than other. Ideal solution would be separated gamemode with only destros allowed, but amount of game pop wont allow that.
Single destros are not the threat, more than two are. Just dont do some crazy ideas like ECM stun disables the barrier.
Ezpz destro win: a single critted phaser bubble will take out every single one of the destroyer’s modules and deal 6x damage to them. Takes out over half their hull strength in one shot if you crit under influence of the red thing, or Valkyrie.

Try it. Put it in to practice. Loki with Mk4 phaser and 3 Mk4 target coprocessors makes for one hell of a critical hit. And given that it hits all 6 of your modules, well there ya go.
Though I do see the error in that, as it also hits your actual ship. So 7x damage in actuality.
