Decrease Repair Bills For T4 Matches - or Increase Rewards

Actually T4 have the worst gameplay due to repair bills.

It seems players here are contaminated with “World of Tanks” syndrome :

Nobody trying to do objective because too dangerous…

Frigates sniping and camping at spawn because going elsewhere too dangerous (WoT heavy tanks in bushes, welcome back !)…

Nothing close to any kind of teamplay because there is lack of trust and too dangerous…

T4 is the worst and most unskilled tier, as obvious resulting of this fail is this.

That is probably why this tier is empty and you can wait 4 min for an arcade game half filled with bots, and only 1v1 with tons of bots for regular game’s.

bump !

The Problem is not only for T4 but also for T3. I can’t continue to play with 60k reward and 50k repair. I can’t continue to play T3 for much time…I have to stay in T2…but play only T2 is annoying so…i can’t continue to play this game for a long time.

Can’t believe we’re still having this conversation.  New patch went live this morning, lots of cool new additions (very much against the new ship purchasing thing though).

Still, now that T4 ships are even more expensive I have even less reason to do T4!

ugh…

It’s sad that I’ve spent more time on these forums than on star conflict in the past week checking to see if they’ve fixed everything…

I actually bought a license, and it hit me! this game is becoming pay to win!!! Awesome match in t3 with license = 12k exp. Awesome match t3 without license = 3k exp. And the money is so terrible without license its not worth mentioning.

*shudders*

So as of v 0.7.12: repair costs for T4 ships down to 47260 per death.  Still a little more than I’d like but I can deal.

Reward formula has now been changed to give effectiveness a bigger role, although personally I don’t notice the difference much.  Still only getting 150-180k per game [license] so we’re up to 3.5 deaths per game to completely wipe the reward.  Loot rewards seem to have been nerfed fairly significantly however, sort of counterbalancing this…

It’s… progress I suppose.

Still want to see more.  Say what you want about T4 being “endgame content” (It isn’t, if there is any that’s what T5 should be, but whatever…)  Point of a game is to be fun right?  T4 is not fun right now for a very simple reason: no-one’s playing it!!!  For people to actually play T4, they need to have a REASON to do so.  Might I recommend loyalty rewards for victories in T4 matches?  I guarantee people will flood to it.

And before anyone bothers: cross tier matchmaking was ridiculous, it’s still ridiculous, and will continue to be unless they can get much better algorithms for figuring out a ships actual worth when compared to other ships.

Proposed solution fix

Repair bill cannot exceed 80% of Reward earned for all teirs.

Simple fix yes? easy to Code probably not. . .

Reward earned = R

Repair bill = Y

Max Repair bill = R x ,80

Compare Repair bill to Max Repair bill Subtract lower value from Reward Earned.

Thats basially how I think you’d code it to work but I have no idea how to script it since I don’t do any kind of game coding.

Great solution devil_kit.  I think it’s a great idea, and it really would not be difficult for the devs to implement should they so chose.

Although, given that half of the stuff they said they did in the last patch simply did not happen, who knows?

T4 is not designed for farming credits. The last Tier is for tournaments and corps battles.

If you want to fly it active, you will need a very good squad with you.

No one will play T4 because it is impossible to compete there with all the stupid changes in the game (Loyalty nerf, overpriced ships with useless modules etc)

Have fun trying to play against russians in their fully Epic fitted ships with your MK1 modules.

just wondering, if t4 is for tournments what is t5 going to be?

For the most bad xxxx mofos in the game. The CEO’s and a select few of the best pilots for a TELEVISED EVENT! Loser has to leave Star Conflict FOREVER!

Well that is interesting, allow me to pose a few questions…

  1. What tournaments?

  1. Last time I checked I couldn’t actually set up full scale battles between one corp and another.

  1. What the hell is Tier 5 for?

But hey, let’s say that there were a whole bunch of tournaments being staged, and that I could pit my 12 corp-mates against another corp, why would I?  What do I stand to gain? Apart from the obvious: “Lol, we beat you!”, which I’m pretty sure sounds the same whether you won on T3 or T4.

Having a whole tier devoted to high end play is fine when you have a large, very active and competitive community, but with only 800-1200 players playing at any given time (and half of them sitting in global chat trying their level best to get banned) the Star conflict community is not large enough to warrant a “competitive” tier.

My opinion: this decision is a poor one.  If Tier 4 is indeed for high level competitive play, and not intended for the average player, why is it even in this game?  Star conflict doesn’t have a huge playerbase devoted to the competitive side of the game like Starcraft or Call of Duty (for example), nor is there any actual credit/reputation/loyalty/equipment incentive for large groups to get together and play T4 (assuming they actually COULD).  Personally, I think it would be better to focus on making a game that can actually draw a large community, before you start providing for the true hardcore among them.

P.S. You might want to make T4s intended playerbase clear before people accidentally go and blow 10 Million credits on a ship that’s “not designed for” them.

I Have a T4 ship, and trust me, With out any decent equipment and a equal risk/reward ratio its alot better to stay in T3. Most people like T3 and T2. T4 IMO is just there as end game since T5 has not come out yet. But once it does you will see most go up to T4 and stay there.

I have to say, make them realize by not playing T4

I look at the matchmaking ques and almost never see T4 ships in battle, T3 is getting empty too tbh. But keep it empty they will realize all that time spent developing T4 and nobody playing is a waste of money

I dont play T3 or T4 myself for a few reasons.

1: The balance in game is horrible compared to T2 (yes i am a frigate pilot) IMO.

2: No money in it, T2 is best balanced in regard to repair costs and winnings, and ability to complete contracts.

3: Searching for battle, almost no wait time in T2, battles run faster.

I think the developers missed a beat in the player development in this game.

started T1 Loved the game really wated to get to T2

OMG got tier 2 YEAAHHHH

Really want to get to T3

GOT A T3 ship …

hmmm this is hard but ok …

WOOT i can get a T4 SHIP !!!

ok grind a while for money !!!

…grind

…grind

…grind

Play anyway try it out, Well my money is gone

F’ that im off to T2

I dont want to reach T4.

i dont want to play T3.

I have actually given up building my T4 ship, havnt bought a module for it,  for ages

In my own eyes i have completed the game as far as one can complete it. There was no “Grind” from T1 to T2 or even from T2 to T3, the game was fun and enjoyable and had a natural progression. I feel getting to and definatley after T3 this has been lost.

T5 … Lawl not touching that with a barge pole unless some serious changes happen.

please make the higher tiers more fun to play

We need to start a T4 T3 boycott … or do we !!

They hampered progression that even high tiers players are refusing to do T3 and T4.

Unless they do something, The player base of approx 1000 will dwindle down to 500 and so on.

P.S. You might want to make T4s intended playerbase clear before people accidentally go and blow 10 Million credits on a ship that’s “not designed for” them.

+1 to your post

I absolutely agree, it is poor game design in my opinion when devs decide to make one specific tier to be end game, or played in a specific way in which the dev team hasn’t given instruction, or proper tools to the player base to make use of the tier AS the devs intend it to be played.

Otherwise as Killavirus pointed out he is not even playing in T3/T4 matches and I agree with his observation. If the rewards are just crap and it ends up being a (financial) loss more than gain for a player they will whole heartedly not compete in that tier. When a player hits that “wall” and find the game is now not enjoyable they will leave, or as most players are going to Tier 2 to play.

With that said it IS in your best interest to keep the player base happy and in turn (ideally but not always) a happy player will pay to further support of the game.

Wait… what?

Hold on a moment and let me get this straight. You are telling me that lone-wolf pilots like myself are not meant to make it up to T5? Well crud, I’ve been going about this all wrong. I thought I’d be going all the way up, but it looks like I arrived before I even left! Tier 5? Naw… I want to stay in Tier 2 forever, man. Maybe Tier 3 if I’m feeling ambitious.

How is anyone supposed to make enough credits to pay for what is sure to be 10 Million+ credit ships in T5 if you can’t earn a decent sum in T4? Just to earn enough to try and pay for a T3 ship, I am forced to fly a couple T2 ships that I hate just for their reward multiplyer. And you are telling me that T4 is supposed to eat a hole in your wallet? And that even after you buy the ship and kit it out that players will have to play lower tiers just to afford the upkeep of their elite T4/T5 crafts? How does that even make sense?

Of course, if we make it to the last tier, we’re expected to fly it inactive, right? I mean, the whole point of buying the frakking ship is so we can fly it. Unless I’m just missing the fact that this is not, in fact, a game that is supposed to be fun.

Is this a game, or not? Because you can’t seem to make up your mind if it’s supposed to be fun or extremely tedious and irritating. If T2/3 is all I have to look forward to from now on, I’m uninstalling and not looking back.

EDIT: You know what? I’m done. I might check back in a month or two to see if anything has changed. But given the direction things seem to be headed, I’m not hopeful. Uninstall… complete.

I’m this close myself…  Almost all the updates since the beta hit steam have somehow managed to make the game LESS fun…

Here’s the simple truth of it. We pilots are not just roleplaying as mercenaries; we are mercenaries. The developers pay us with incentives to fight in their game and in return we give them our business. And just like mercenaries, we have a simple code.

We are in it to make a virtual profit.

The idea that many companies seem to be embracing now days, especially in the free to play realm, is that the gamer is blessed just to be granted free access to their wonderous world and thus should accept whatever terms of play the company deems acceptable.

Rubbish.

If the company behind Star Conflict wants to turn a profit, they need to make a game worth playing that pays their players. You don’t pay us what we think is fair, and we can easilly take our business elsewhere.

Think it can’t happen? Take a look at Black Prophecy. If it can happen to them, it can happen here.
