As of now we can get green/purple kits and artefacts in PVP trophy looting, and everything else is junk autosold for credits.
What about having a chance that the trophies are crafting materials also?

Yes, but their drop rate is not that high, and I would perhaps prefer more materials rather than a small number of credits
Upgrades kits give a fair amount of recourses, I don’t think we need more for the moment.
Mk2 can be salvaged for materials… so you don’t need to go up to blue or purple… greens are just fine.
I’d definitely like having a chance to pick up some crafting loot. I’m not really gonna feel anything like a 20k credit difference if winning a PvP match gives me 200k. Even with their low drop rate and lower use rate, I’m pretty sure that I’ve saved more credits using green kits than I’ve earned picking up loot.
I’d love crafting mats from PvP and PvE loot. And I’d love Mk3 kits even more than that!
