I don’t like it.
Perhaps if it was like the move “Bide” on Pokemon I’d accept it. This is how it works. The player activates the module. During that time the player may not use any main weapon, missile or other module. The player may deactivate the module at anytime. Once deactivated the module undergoes cooldown period. Damage is absorbed during that time is doubled and used in a single shot against the enemy. The player must aim like any other main weapon.
It’s called a Guard with Pulsar…
I understand the idea, but I am not sure if I would need such a module, on any ship
I mean, I was once making the proposition of reflective hull as a module, with a similar mechanic, but I never thought I would need an ability for this.
I think the Pulsar of the Guard and the Guards’ damage bonus, and the gunship shield explosion are similar mechanics.
It’s not a bad idea tho, maybe as direction, just unsure how it would work out as multipurpose, being available on all roles.
Don’t think you do G4borg. The way I’m reading the idea makes it sort of a counter attack where you use the enemies attack against them. Pulsar and the gunship doodad don’t work like that.
I’d rather it go on a command ship for an selfish module or an LRF.
I do like your “bide” idea though. Sounds cool. Maybe the single shot of energy could pierce multiple targets like a giant beam or something. Sounds very very cool~~~
Make another suggestion about it!
Sounds like “Feedback Pulse” from STO: Ship emits pulse to enemy that deal damage to shield. We could adapt it to SC by deflecting projectiles back to source(source can avoid them by manouvering, but still they can hit other ships), not sure what to do with lazors and pulsars.
Angle of incidence = angle of reflection.
They could just bounce like any normal lasers would. ^^

so straight back to the guy who fired it.
would not apply for pulsar or missiles or bombs.
Boom solved.
25% damage back hey? Fly adaptive guard into enemy team. Enemy team dies in 4s.
If this was like another emergency shield barrier, I am all for it. Sounds neat. But only if implemented correctly with not-so-ridiculous stats.
I tend to agree with g4. Such a module isn’t necessary. Teamwork and spatial awareness will save your life more often than any module.
What about an invincibility aura with 1 en/s? And use proton walls.
It dishes out damage after resistances, so if you are hit with 1000 damage but it only does 100, you will deal back only 25. ^^
And if you are hit while invincible, you are not taking damage and are therefore not dealing it either.
Also, keep in mind this does not reduce damage done to you.

better yet use no shield buffs to increase EM and thermal damage.
Suicidal reflect guard build.
Banzai Guard Build.
And plus, anything out of range takes no damage, so they could just own you from a distance and be fine.
And it’s Kamikaze

And it’s Kamikaze
That’s The Point.
Seriously I’ve done that in spec ops with the nuke, just drop it, use active camo, fly into some randoms, and use self destruct to nail them because THE KAMIKAZE WAY IS THE BEST WAY.
MUCH HONOR FOR MY FAMILY.
