Coordinate System

Dear All;

First, I love this game! Second, a space compass would be nice.

I was playing PvP  the other day in a squad with a few awesome members of my corp, I had called out two targets that were encroaching fast going flank speed toward our location. “Enemy bearing 11’o clock high, inbound Hot” I said. I looked around… Where my team was looking was a seperate area! “Damn!” I thought.

If I had a sort of space compass that I had, I could call out enemies with a litte more ease.

If the enemies had a little thing over their head that displayed their position in perhaps X,Y,Z, coordinates it could be

great for coordinating fire. Also, if there could be a map system that divides the map into quadrants and/or sectors (like Chess’ algebraic system, Knight to e5, or Battleship) this would be helpful.

If I spot an enemy bearing 35 degress High at an altitude of 35,000, it would seem more fighter pilot like.

Thank you in advance. :005j:

Easy solution:

Ping target. Make sure your team uses the show ship name setting in HUD. Call target and aim.

Complex:

Use the middle of the map. Say starboard to look towards the middle or port to look away. Left or right plus starboard or port determines where to look. This only works if everyone use the 2D minimap and has the top of the ship facing the same way.

Starboard… is meant to mean “right”? I think you mean starboard/port + forward/backwards. When I have to type it out like that, I usually use the spawn orientation as a reference.

I don’t know naval terminology and I didn’t bother to make sure I was right.

Swab the landlubbers, hoist the poopdeck and put your back into the anchor!

Usually its a “put an anchor into your lower back”…

BTW ping target is pressing your lock key twice, probably R.

There is “eyes on target” button - it will ping a target under your aim, but it will NOT lock on it, so your target is not warned prematurely (especially useful on those sneaky bomb carriers or covops)

You could ping and target then untarget real quick so he thinks it was a glitch.

no he wouldnt, he would notice locking on and will think some one is locking on and then went into los, so lock got droppeed
