Compensate disconnects with team buff

Hello,

 

I often experience situations like this, where i miss a compensation for the missing players who disconnected, no matter why.

I’ve seen in other games that disconnects are being compensated with decreased respawn time or damage/resistance buffs.

 

I just suggest that if somebody disconnects (not if it’s realistic or combat recon and that player is entirely gone), that the team gets a little bonus for each pilot who disconnects to compensate it at least a bit. Like +10 resistance to all damage types or 10% more damage. What the buff does is not that important, at least something to leave your team a chance to keep the game up, because losing a player in a game is often changing the result of the whole game, especially in little games or realistic.

 

Also should the bonus be bigger if somebody disconnects in a little game like 4 vs 4, because 3 vs 4 is way different to 9 vs 10.

 

It’s just something i’d like to have. I’m ready to hear opinions about this and if you like it or not.

to be honest 10% damage increase is a bit much :slight_smile:

reduced respawn time sounds fairer.

it really depends on who disconnects anyway. i don’t see it as positive if there is an incentive to disconnecting, as in “they will get bonuses…”, psychologically.

yes i know, it sounds weird, if you turn the thought around, but this is the unwanted byproduct.

but i do assume most disconnects happen without the person really wanting to disconnect, so it’s worth a thought.

I think the bonus would have to be very carefully thought out.

 

I’m sure we can all agree that when a player disconnects from a game (whether intentional or not), it is a huge detriment to the team, a detriment that grows exponentially the smaller the games get.

 

A damage boost isn’t really fair, as an organized squad would greatly benefit from that, and could actually give the team with one less player an advantage.

Faster respawns does sound like it could be fair, and the respawns could get shorter if more players disconnect.

I’m up for shorter respawns. Anything else sounds a bit too much, losing players would be actually beneficial if the numbers aren’t properly thought.

that is like as if the player had not been replaced at all.

you can easily farm bots.

Bots don’t really help as much as a team buff. Similar to Dota 2 (where a DCed player automatically splits all accrued gold to teammates along with shared gold per minute gain), we can do something along the lines of a damage and/or HP buff for all remaining teammates.
