Charger

How about a charger?
It load the weapon longer and therefore making its shot stronger but at the cost that it will take longer to shoot the shot.
Decrease the RoF by 20%? and therefore increase time to overheat but increase at the same time the damage by 30%?.
It’s installed in the capacitor slot of a ship.

Alpha damage is one of the things that gets the most complaints in this game. If this module made its way into the game, it’d just lead to a singularity, gauss, and positron nerf. Maybe even shrapnel, if enough people use it to make it get noticed.

No, leave high alpha to gauss and positron. Otherwise you’ll make them useless compared to other weapons.

Yeah bad idea. If you want to charge your weapon, use gauss or positron.

And it’s not even possible on many weapons. How the hell should charging the weapon command, phaser, or most of the weapons that have stats which change with overheating work ?

On most weapons it’d be useless because the spread grow with time.

It’d work only on plasma gun or shrapnel.

Funny that you think alpha guns lose their alpha because of this module. They will get the same benefit as all the other weapons and all around.

How is it possible to fire such weapons w/o draining energy/consuming propelling charges etc.?

Easy said: It use energy to release more bullets/bigger energy projectiles therefore reducing the RoF but increasing the strength of its release.

To the spread: It’s either a  curve or linear function which is based on RoF. Therefore (in-)direct dependence.

Funny how you think that alpha weapons with this proposed modules would not have to be nerfed hard, making them useless without it.

And how do you think is it balanced with already implemented modules that do the same?

Values aren’t fixed. They can be determined like they want to be.

The tenor is to have a module to decrease RoF.

Yes i have been looking for a module like this for my mauler for some time, if only there was something i could add to the 3 capacitor slots to give the pos cannon more damage. ![:015j:](<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/015j.png “:015j:”)

Well now i need not worry that i have been charging silly dps for what seems like an age cause i have even longer to release the shot and with 30% extra dps no less (assuming i only use one) ![](< base_url >/uploads/emoticons/014j.png “”)

Just one example, perhaps one of the more extreme but this proposal is extreme too. Shall we just do away with trying out crit builds and have stuff like this instead? Perhaps you want more weapon power for your ship but this DPS will be used against you in a court of Star Conflict.

Can you make your Q.Q short please?

Or you can accept that your idea is bad.

Expounding on my first reply in this thread, alpha damage is currently more or less on the cusp of being balanced. Gauss and positron both have issues with taking down tankier targets, but can take a huge chunk out of an unsuspecting interceptor or fighter. Which is exactly how it should be. Add in more alpha damage, and even frigates might have to worry about suddenly missing 50% of their health.

You have used Q.Q so much it has lost any meaning and was never applicable here to begin with.

Short it is then. Insufficient drawback for having the module installed. Like asking for a pulse discharger with more positive and less negative effects.
