The current timing system is very confusing and many players have been asking when they need to be there, and not realizing the discrepancies in timezones. It’s not the easiest to figure out.
I suggest it be changed to a 24hr countdown like every other time-of-day game mode, such as the tournaments and the old Sector Conquest system. Each sector will have its own countdown.
That way everyone knows how long it will be until the battles.
I have been telling my corp mates about the battle times since I figured how it works. I even put it in the daily message. It is very confusing. When we have a discussion about attacking, making wings or other things we are not talking about timing the way it forces us now, like e.g. we join and meet at XX:YY hour, but XX:YY hours later. That is the only common point between the different time zones. It works perfectly for the tournament. Nobody misses it and no need for hours of chatting when trying to coordinate 8 or so players. Not to mention the +1 hour for the daylight saving time. And if you want to use the current timing system, which I hope not, please change the text from ‘in’ to ‘at’. ‘In’ should be used when there is a count down.
Everybody is asking about the battle hours because it’s confusing as hell and you have to dig up through discussion threads on the forum to find out.
Why do you need timezone logic when you have the current time and the battle start time? Why not just display the difference?
It doesn’t help that the timezones don’t currently account for Daylight Savings Time so some sector times are off by an hour.
I was talking about server time. If the client can’t calculate the time correctly because of timezone issues or w/e, then calculate the difference on the server and send it to the client.
Another thing is that client is able to calculate current local time properly (Time stamp in top left corner) And tournament’s countdown is working fine too.
