Change Captain Boost

This is the reason I’m always uber aggressive as cap. Being able to 2-shot half the enemy team is glorious!

That bonus is pretty powerful. I seen captains do the lion’s share of kills, fortunately they are few and far between. Captains that play offensively tend to get killed early, but when they are good they are frightening to fight against.

I propose that the captain bonus changes according to the ship class the capt uses.

Frigate captain get +rotation, +Acceleration, +Strafe

Fighter captain get +main weapon damage, +missile damage, +top speed

Interceptor captain gets +main weapon range, +main weapon projectile speed,

leave as it is, it is awesome like this

A frigate being able to successfully defend against an inty in it’s blind spot seems pretty sweet to me while a fighter becomes more agressive and be able to bug out quicker. The interceptor captain can now deal damage from a larger distance.

Granted, it may make combat recon matches longer and may make it harder to kill the cap but at least these bonuses help nооb captains more than the last system while still helping pro captains. When a nооb captain survives longer his whole team benefits. I think that usin this new system will greatly improve combat recon as a game mode.

If you argue that these bonuses are OP in the right hands, so was a damage bonus in the right hands.

The captain bonus is fine as it is. Having a 75% damage bonus for being cap is meant to be high, as, like Error said, it encourages the captains to actually engage in combat instead of cowering in the back all game, not being useful. Gunships are a role meant to do high damage, so of course 75% is going to be a lot, however, gunships aren’t always the best captains because they lack a good way to retreat (high speed/maneuverability) as well as tankiness that an ECM or guard has.
