Can we pick which weapon we want when we buy a new ship?

Whenever you buy a new ship, it sticks you with the generic assault railgun or beam cannon. Since all weapons are the same price, can we pick which one we want on the ship for the stock weapon? I have to keep buying the other weapons or transferring my upgraded ones and I have like 4 assault railguns in my garage that I didn’t really want.

this would be good idea and could probably be implemented, but it’s really not THAT much of a problem

The ship pre-sets have been added so players don’t start with blank ships and can already participate with the new ship once they buy it. It is not planned change this mechanic.

This isn’t going to be a formal suggestion from me, but why isn’t there an option to let players buy the empty ship, if 1/4 of the price is the stuff that doesn’t need to be there?

It is not planned to add such a feature.

hmm not planned huh? Isnt that what these forums are for? To see how many people want new things and ideas changed? I swear I saw that somewhere when the devs themselves asked for new info especially from new players. I too wish to add cannons instead of beams to my frigates, but its not planned, so have nothing to brag about when I talk to my friends about the game, huh?

We are always glad to get feedback and suggestions, but it needs to be reviewed with certain aspects:
Is a feature/change really needed or only a nice to have?

Does it fit into the design of the game?
Can it be done without breaking anything else?
Is it wanted by a small group or by the majority of the community?
