Bring Back this Game Mechanic (quick switch for weapons and modules)

I was just brainstorming, and I dawned upon an idea for how the developers could bring back our ability to quick switch weapons and modules between ships again.

Several patches ago, we lost the ability to view every item in our warehouses while customizing loadouts for ships in our hangars. Equipment that was installed on another ship would be appear faded and a short message (this item is equipped to another ship) would appear at the bottom of its box. I would like to bring this game mechaninc back, but with a twist.

I would propose a new system of equipping our ships. The new system would involve players who are willing to pay a premium* to employ a “Quartermaster” to handle their ship loadouts. Instead of quick-switching weapons and modules from inactive ships to your current ones, players can work with their quartermasters to pre-build ship loadouts. These loadouts could then be saved and called upon so that a pilot can quick switch between profiles in order to utilize more equipment from their warehouses. They could start with 3 possible profiles for each ship in their hangar, and could pay to create additional profiles (up to a maximum of 5 or 6).

The way this would work is such: When a ship is removed from your hangar, the quartermaster is tasked with removing all weapons and modules from it, essentially stripping it down to a barebones form for storage. When a new ship is added to the hangar, the quartermaster will prompt the player to select a profile for that ship. A favorite profile (marked by some symbol) could also be designated, so that the quartermaster automatically equips your ship with your favorite loadout. After loading the equiped ship into the hangar, the player could then make minor changes in the current loadout without affecting that profile, unless, of course the player chooses to save their changes. Also, quartermasters could provide tips/suggestions to players as they create their ships’ various profiles. In addition, the UI could be tweaked to allow players to assign nicknames for each loadout.

In the future, quartermasters also might handle cosmetic changes to our ships, allowing pilots to store different paintjobs to be called upon at will.

If you noticed earlier that I said players would “pay a premium* to employ a ‘quartermaster’” here is my justification.  Star Conflict is a free to play game. In F2P games, players should expect to pay RL money for cosmetic changes and convenience. My suggestion to add quartermasters to the game falls squarely in the latter category. Players who do not want to shell out GS for this convenience can keep the current system of manually removing modules from ships in order to install them somewhere else.

*Suggested pay scale for the quartermaster’s services:

1 week: 450 Gold Standards (approx. 1.5 USD)

1 month: 1000 Gold Standards (approx. 3.33 USD)

6 months: 4000 Gold Standards (approx. 13 USD)

*My suggestions for the pay scale should be considered un-informed, as I do not have access to Gaijin’s books and do not know the current state of SC’s profitability.

Thoughts? Suggestions?
