The current nuke is nothing but a way to make damaged foes flee an area for about 7 seconds. After that there’s a wimpy rad cloud that can easily be avoided entirely, and next to that, the cartridge only holds one. Let’s look at this;
The current nuke is as follows:
Damage: low
AoE: very high
Cloud damage: medium
Recharge: insane
Now what would make nukes mildly more useful is if they were changed to either of the following:
Option 1:
Damage: Extreme
AoE: medium
Cloud damage: low
Recharge: insane
Option 2:
Damage: medium
AoE: very high
Cloud damage: low
Recharge: half
Or what could be done is make a small radius within the blast radius have an instant-kill factor, because detonating a nuke on any ship’s hull should cause massive damage and catastrophic failure of systems.
Any option would be a good option at this point, as the nuke has essentially the same damage as a common mine. The only thing that makes it even worth considering is the PvE aspect and the massive AoE. Looking at it any other way, the nuke is just a waste of a perfectly good missile slot.
Thoughts? Try to consider what I’m saying before blindly stating you opinions.
Thats right, cov op suicide runs with nukes over the enemy dread were too silly, easy and effective cause of the high dmg of the nukes. Blast dmg wont be increased ever (unless nukes will no longer dmg buildings).
EDIT: reducing the range by a lot should allow substancial dmg increase, but then it wouldnt be a nuke…what about increasing cloud dmg furthermore? XD
Okay I admit that a massive damage cloud would be quite bad for things that cloak. But still. That’s one class, and tacklers barely have a counter anyways. Even Recon’s are useless at range. Only thing that makes them annoying is the micro-locator.
nope fox not this time sorry but thats a bad idea (especially for a tackler pilot like me which is covops are my worst enemy)
'cause of the plasma web? Build a Jaguar with the proper cloak and you can totally ignore them.
On topic: nukes were removed mostly 'cause of dread fights, the suicide run was way too effective. Sadly I have to agree with others here, that reintroducing them will not be a good idea. (That’s sad 'cause planting a nuke in the middle of a frigball and watch them run was fun)
If nukes didn’t damage structures, I’d be perfectly fine with an increase in damage. But as it is right now, even with the low (heavy air quotes) damage it has, suicide nuke runs are still practical.
I am trying to imagine a world in which nukes were like a viable reactor overload…

Recons, CovOps and Guards can counter Tackler. While Recons make them practically useless. So 1 class sure…
And wasting the SP ship JUST to counter 2 of the mentioned 3 counters is maybe a waste of the SP isn’t it? Especially because you can use 12385765 tacklerships in T5 right? RIGHT?

well not exactly if u listen little bit loud music when u in a battle that you are dancing with another good enemy pilot u cannot hear that sound and no not because of that loud music but the noise of weapons missiles that voice (Warning missile incoming) could prevent you to hear it and that happens a lot to me because good pilots usually use cov ops in low ranks
