Boost Graphics When Strafing / Reversing

I don’t know how I didn’t notice this until yesterday, but as I was flying a Jericho Frigate, holding boost, reverse and left all at the same time, I realized the rear boosters were firing in the ship model.

I know that there are little Solo Cups, err… I mean, strafe thrusters on the top and bottom of the ships that show a graphic when strafing, but why does the rearward booster fire even if you’re going that direction? Seems to me there needs to be another way of displaying the boost graphic when strafing / reversing.

It’s space, don’t question it.Just spend money on the DLCs and you should be fine. #sellout

I can suspend some disbelief, like how firing boosters attached to the back/bottom doesn’t send you in an upward-turning spiral (I guess there’s invisible counter-thrusters holding the nose down).

But when it comes to something as blatant as thrusters firing in the exact direction of motion and somehow applying inertia opposite the way they’re firing - 100% contrary to the laws of physics - that I have a little problem with.

I never thought why something is somewhat. I just play.

Maybe it is after burner heatsink or something :stuck_out_tongue:

Maybe afterburners are like quantum jets that manipulate matter density of and around your ship to move you?

How do you know our terrible secret?  :00555:

Maybe it is vector-thrust.

I saw a documentary about an IRL existing plane which can redirect it’s exhaust through a “flexible pipe” to start almost vertically.

Planes can even break with thrust, but that needs some panels to redirect it into the opposite direction.

I hope visual panels for vector-thrust get added.

's called “vertical takeoff”. Usually, one hears about aircraft capable of “vertical takeoff and landing”, or VTOL.
