Best t2 Shipkind for Rapid Fire Railgun

Hello everyone.

I’m new to the game, i’m playing from 9 days and i’m in t2 from 3

So… i just found a purple Rapid Fire Railguns and i d like to use it … at the moment i own two Interceptor (Cover and Rcon, Cover Ops is the cool one from steam pack) and a commanf fighter.

But i have money for buy another ship  (both normal or premium).

Just wonderin if somene can help me to chose a good ship for RFRG and can suggest me what modules i should use. Thank u very much.

ECM/CovOps.

I believe I have the same item as you and from my experience with the RFRs, they aren’t that good. First shot is a supercharged, shotgun-style shot that seems to fire double or triple the normal amount of bullets. That’s your primary damage. After that shot, if you keep holding down the trigger, you get massive spread that makes it basically impossible to hit anything at over 500m. Spread reduction modules don’t help that much either as I have an Experimental-class (i.e. purple) Electronic Guidance module equipped as well. If you want rapid fire, I suggest the Rapid Fire Plasmas (no overheat at all) or the Pulse Lasers (highest DPS, still overheats).
Personally, I use the Pulse Lasers on my Engineer Frigate and it chews through everything except the Guard Frigate’s Phase Shield ability…

EDIT: if you still want to use the RFRs, I’d say equip them on interceptors. You need to get in close to deal the pain with those guns. As for modules, your choice. Depends on your playstyle really.

You only use RFR AS a shotgun. You’re not supposed to hold the button, you’re meant to wait for 2-3 charges and fire.

 This.

Actually it has an awesome damage.

My problem is range… i used to play with hail plasma on command and stabylized rails on ceptors…

BTW Oryn,… why u think is better on cov/ecm than Recon?  Shield steal + high kinetic damage sounds grat on paper.

(And ingame some sugggested me Gunship too … now , i never flought a gunship, i know they have speed buffs… but still i can’t immagine how can u get in kill ur target and survive at so close range with a fighter…)

I use rapid lasers on my tackler. It’s ridiculously easy to use.

BTW… so rapid rails ‘automatically’ charge themselves up if you don’t fire them for a couple of seconds? That sounds quite fun. I might be able to use it on my recon in this case.

The Parasitic Remodulator is a sure-win way of dumping their shields to zero, but every pilot flying armor tanks will, at the very least, plug that Kinetic hole (not counting Ceptors). You’re better off just keeping Thermal on all the time or, in T3, fit for crit.

Jericho ECMs are perfect for this because after the Metastasis Field blows, you can wail your enemy’s hp to zero. Even under the Stasis (T3 mod), an RFR ECM is severely overpowered.

Gunships are far more effective with StabRails and Spread Reduction passives. Scarily effective, as well.

They charge automatically. 1 Charge/sec. I’m not sure if RoF modules affect this, though, never tried them.

Ye… i got ur point now.

But so… one more question… these RFRG are purple, yes… but do you think they deserve the bought af a new interceptor? (i mean… i was prepared to buy a new ship… but a third interceptor?? )

I don’t wanna use on my cov op… i tryed and i don’t like. I m good with stab rail on it. (As cov op u don’t have many escape … i mean u can dodge but considering ur crap hull and shield… if u more than 3 people locked u and keep following u it’s hard to survive … so basically i fly my cov from distance… i use plasma web when have to “fight for my life” (or when i absolutely need to kill someone… like bomb carrier… there i don’t care if i die after kill) … and ewell i’m good that way… i love that ship and i ll leave it this way.

Look at it this way: it’ll be a fun training for you.

Cover ops does wonders if you activate your orion before and aim carefully. you can drop shields of a frigate in 1 shot. I use it on my ricasso.

Yeah, I figured out the name is a misnomer after a couple matches with that gun… ah well, I found out I don’t like railguns in general as I’m terrible with the Experimental Stabilised Railguns I have as well. Why do I never pick up experimental plasmas or lasers?

I have experimental assault plasmas. Umad? XD

In all seriousness, RFRs are the best weapon you can stick on a Cov Ops. Couple it with Orion at maximum charge and enhanced shells or shpaed charge shells and you have some whopping damage right there.

Stick your Rapid Fire Rails on your Covert Ops.

You need the Orion module as mentioned before - as well as any +crit weapon mods and modules you can find. In addition, add some spread reduction passives - this will do wonders for your damage against fast-moving targets.

Anything else is just icing on the cake.

 I’ll get them one day… I prefer the Rapid Fire versions tbh.

I actually use the RFRs on my Hydra.  I use the desintegrator at longer ranges and then use the shotgun burst of the RFRs to deal with anything that gets closer.

At times, I do switch to stabilized when I really need at-range hitting power.

Bought a Mk1 RFR, tried it, liked it, and put a ring on it bought a Mk3 version. I have it on my tackler: lock on, fly in, quickly throw on all debuffs and take aim, then fire a few times, and bail out. If I’m lucky I can take out an inty in a single run. When I’m not confident of pulling that off I either begin the assault with a guided missile or I slow down and take a few more shots.

RFR’s are fun to put on a LRF and you just troll any interceptors that think they can get you solo hehe

I have purple RFR on my Scout (premium Dwarf 2). They are epic weapons for that. Hitting 3K damage on a crit, with Spy Drone and Remodulator going, then cloak and microwarp away before anyone can retaliate. Great times all round!

Stick your Rapid Fire Rails on your Covert Ops.

Update

So , i’m in t3 from some time now (i left t2 in 5  days… don’t like it. Too many ppl play like it’s a death match … ( and i think i found my reality (i love everything in t3… exept combat recon … 8 times on 10 it is just a 10 minutes “frignball/hide under roicks and try to kill someone will never die anyway couse he is full in 3 sec after he was 20% hull” … I HATE THAT GAME TYPE ).

Still i felkt in love for RFRG and atm i’m using on both my ECM and my COVOPS.

But mate…why sporead reduction??? I mean… i never felt any advantage in put spread reduction modules in a short range, not “authomathic” weapon … actually i’m going with CRIT ship module, Increase rate of fire passive … and increase projectiles speed weapon modules (other one is crit … no point in using the termal damage modiefier imho… i NEVER found a single guy with a  signicative lower termal res ).

So basically can u explain me WTF is sprad reduce usefull to when u are shooting less than 3000 meters?

Less spread = more hits = more damage = faster kill
