Balancing Repair Costs for Ship Classes

Hiya,

I’m not complaining about repair costs, but rather an in game flaw that may not have been accounted for. I’ve found when I’m piloting a frigate, I generally hang back outside of combat and provide long distance support. So essentially, I survive without dying more often than not, while when I’m in an interceptor or fighter, you’re in the thick of it and usually end up dead.

So, my point is that the repair costs are the same. Shouldn’t repair costs for interceptors and fighters be substatially lower than frigates? Otherwise, I may as well just use frigates non stop and avoid having huge repair costs, therefore making more money.

My interceptor is more survivable than my frigate… I see no point in this suggestion.

actually as far as I can tell, interceptor repair costs are higher then frigates. Anyway you shouldn’t only be providing ranged support in the first place

I’m not, clearly in my post I never stated this. I prefer fighter class, yet my point still stands. Either frigates need to be higher cost to repair (the highest really) or lower the cost of intercepters, apparently zerk1 being the deep thinking genius that he clearly is, can see absolutely no point in lower repair costs.

Anyway, take how I play the game out of the equation. Don’t worry about how I play the game, this has nothing to do with the suggestion at hand.

Think about the logistics of the battlefield and the battlefield alone. Fighters and Interceptors should have very low repair costs as they die much more often than a frigate would. It makes no difference how you or I play to the suggestion at hand.

or better yet, disregard the suggestion entirely. I only posted my analysis from countless battles to highlight a discrepancy.

I don’t care either way as I have enough credits to infinitely repair and restock.

I was merely giving sway to my pedantic nature and tendancy towards recognising trends.

The devs should have all the statistics on how often ships from each class die in relation to each other.  And yes, I think ships of brawling duty should have less repair cost than others.

well I like repair costs as they are now since it also keeps people from trying to go all suicide all the time and doesn’t punish dying in a frigate as much (which means you can be brave and bold and use a frigate as it is supposed to be used. in midrange combat)

When it comes to repairs aren’t ships just shells and the cost just has to do with the equipment that is in them?

well it also depends on how damaged they are which is what actually seems to calculate repair costs here. It’s just that interceptor deaths seem to take more %of their total health away then frigate ones

I often wounder what is the point in repairing your ship when playing arcade mode, usually I thought that the more you die, the more you have to pay. But honestly I’m not sure how the system works for that mode. I do know that if you don’t die, you don’t need to pay for any repairs.

each time you die your ship’s status in hangar goes down by a percentage. If a ship reaches 0% you can’t use it
