Only the frigates must shoot backwards

Since everyone is able to use it, it isnt unfair and without this fighters would have problems fighting fast interceptors.

i hawe to agree with ArqueiroX, but not thats unfair, its just bit stupid: it remowes need of skill for piloting, since u dont hawe to worry if enemy is behind u or not, it simply kills dogfight. i could imagine tactics like this to put in use: enter freecam, mowe your ship in random directions to dodge while always hawing target in screen( spam ADQE and mouse constrols while only skill u need is skill to keep good aim).

ability for any ship to shoot 360deg is stupid, even for frigate. i wound imagine interceptors only be able to shoot in front,fighters maybe would hawe some additional lower dmg weap in back but since there is cloak for them is not realy nessesary), frigates would hawe way bigger arc for shooting while still hawing blind spots, engine/ directly bellow(well depends on where guns are put).

as it is now= get ship with as much hp/shield u can, get best dmg weaps( or lazers for easyer aiming) sit in open and 1v1 no1 will take u out …

game is great, engine is nice, but this 360shooting realy kills interest for any1 that wants some dogfights and stuff, where pilot skills mater too.

as for frigates hawing trouble with interceptors, arent they supose to hawe escort and be defended with lighter ships anyway?

do yourselves a favour and take a day or two and try flying with the 360 view controls,especially with the interceptor and fighters, dont just say bah its unfair or stupid, your level of play will dramatically increase as soonas you get the hang of it. do not think for one second that it is easier to hit someone just because it is 360, hell my average hit rating per match it 60% but i’m getting there.

A fighetr and interceptor back firing? just insane.

but… this is space fight… and i supose that if we are fighting in outer space, we have enough technology to use firing turrets… or shooting backward

but i have to agree that this makes the fights less challenging,

its back shots, or infinite fights because the ships have so much “HitPoints”

I have to say I really dislike this 360 capability too, it seems to eliminate any real dogfighting (at least from my standpoint). Whenever I get on to the back of someone, as soon as they realise I’m there we just orbit each other while firing constantly. To me this is just a battle of who has the better mouse sensitivity setting/mouse, there is no real need for wit or guile.

I understand that frigates need this feature, but do interceptors really need this?

I might be missing some intricacies of the combat using this camera, if I am, then please tell me what these are. You have done the controls for maneuvering your ship extremely well, but what is the point if the enemy can land hits on you however you maneuver??

interceptors could fire only foward, but they will need to lower their hit points too, and raise mobility

oddly enough, i get a better accuracy using flight cam instead of freecam, but i can’t get to hit the target all the time with it.

i think a possible solution would be making projectile speed relative to the ship’s speed, resulting in people shooting backwards having more problems when it comes to hitting(but i’m not sure if this is implemented already)

somehow i feelin that too… maybe cause in flight mode the ship follow our cursor movement, and make the camera follow automaticaly…

nah that would be worst solution… sometimes while fighting me as figeht vs interceptor, im able to kill while dogfight, so its not so bad with it, and free cam if you are good with it… i have seen people fighting like that, and in my opinion extra dmg is not needed, just practice

Plz, leave the freecam shot only to the frigate.

actually you still can shoot back by pushing back camera button ( B Button )

but well… im prefering main weapon except frigate limited only can shoot to front with max angle 90 degree to all angle centered from the front… so side shoot still possible but not gonna back shoot…

so we dont need remove free view which still useful for check your surroundings…

@ArqueiroX: you can’t fire guided missiles backwards. they need to be launched forward then manuever to that target. also, bindspots will kind of ruin the game balance with the current weapon layout most ships have.

All ships need have a blind spot or then who have the more powerfull shield+ hull win. Having weak poinbts will make the player use yours skills to fight wisely.

Imagine you, a interceptor, trying to attack another interceptor .

You stands behind him to shoot and suddenly he starts firing backwards instead of maneuvering to shake you. If he have a best ship then your, you will lose. Player skill will be eliminated.

Same to a Frigate. Your weak spot should be in the low part because there no have turrets. But what we see hapening is this:

and they extend to that ship’s entire weapon range.

I strongly suggest to replace the firing behind on the interceptors/attack craft, leave it only for the big boys 'cause they can’t defend themselves otherwise.

Now because i have time to edit:

I say this because we have all this maneuvrability statistics and differences between types of ships, but it really takes all the fun out when you manage to get out of cloak on someone’s tail just to get him shooting you with all guns out of his “backside”, to avoid saying the “a**” word :slight_smile:

The game is currently built on this system. Remove it, and all will say Frigate is overpowered. Its hard enough for an Attack Ship to get an Interceptor down. Turreting as it is now, is only punishing players using 3rd person view. Nevertheless, 3rd person has the best ship handling. Moreover, what about Interceptor? Evading incoming fire is the base of his survival and the base of his strength. Being able to permanently hit the target is essential to him. Removing it, would also cripple his abilities.

If you get out of cloak on the tail of an other ship, you still have an advantage. You can throw everything on them while the enemy needs to lock you first. Target painter on, system shut down, rockets out and you have a nice firework. ^^

You only need to get used to the free cam mode and its still challenging.
