The way long range damage is given out in this game is way unbalanced. Nerf Sniping. Nerf the long range abilities or delete them. no ship should be able to shoot past 6.5k you badly nerf close range weapons when all you have to do is sit in a group at 15k and kill anything coming at you.

I know you are stuborn, everyone is, but you are ruining your game, everyone agree’s on it.

tis time to nerf or delete the mass sniping abilities. In fact in general the ship offensive abilities are just to strong.

consider changing to race related abilities, that are similar across all ships, but are defensive in nature, or do things like disable.

long range sniping abilities, missiles and so forth that so as much damage as main weapons is just silly.

believe me when i say this, you are going to ruin your game and drive it into the ground before it starts.

no ship shoot beable to hit over 6.5k. Put a limit on this, add a mechanic that if the weapons fire travels 6.5k it does no damage.

on a personal note is not snipers what kill my joy of doing dogfights, i enjoy doing close 1 vs 1 combat but more often than not each time i enter a dog fight with my fighter i end getting 2 or 3 extra guys in my tail shooting me wich force me to either break the chase and seek for cover or attempt to kill the one i am chasing before the other 2-3 turn my ship into a smoking wreck.

My heavy lasers are baking fighters a 8.2K and the disintegrator is pop things at 12K meters. I still can push the range even further with better equipment.

12k, 15k, it doesnt matter, still its above 10k so enough to kill someone just sitting in one place.

as for the OP:

iv been saying the same for quite a while, so ./sign

sigh.

why would you ever pick mid or close range weapons, when all you have to do is get in a group of 2-3 (with organization) and be unkillable. The only thing that can get on top of them is empire ceptors (because of the 10k warp) and they dont last to long if the ships are equiped.

so long range at this duration is to over powered. There is only two solutions

  1. Extend the other weapons

  2. Nerf range.

in regards to the first, it would just make the game stupid with range all over the place, it would totally destroy the concept of combat in the game (much less close combat).

So the solution is to nerf range.

like i said, it should be

close range - plasma (Max 3k)

mid range - laster (max 4k)

Long range - (Max 6.5k)

the reason why its 3k, 4k then 6.5k (the leap on long range is)

it should work out so that you can snipe a little, just around 50% of their current amount.

but in order to kill and snipe at the range, you should have to fit largely for snipe

for example in eve you had snipe builds that required sensors to long at long range, tracking modules to hit moving targets at that range, and even mods to increase that damage.

Eve has one of the combat styles / setups on the mmo market.

roman was great because they took idea’s and made them better, its what we should do also.
