Well in fact its much harder to take down an Empire Gunship than an Empire Command, Phase Shield included. Also Gunships are faster on Overdrive than Commands so Singularity would fit Gunships according to your description because they are fast and tanky.
Its about time i correct you. *Diffusion shield. NOT phase shield
Imho, command = long ion or gauss boat, you dont really want to get too close in one.

Doesn’t matter everyone understood it
In witch way gunships are more tanky than commands? Tell me. Because my commands have more HP with only their diffusion shield compared to all the HP of my gunships (Or it will become a brick).
Commands are faster for long run and have a big part of their tank that regenerate completely by themselves.
Anyway, I play alone, so there may be the difference.

Most of them have 3 hull slots, Empire Gunships can reach up to 30 survivability, and I yet have to see a Command doing that. Also, despite of the Diffusion Shield, wich is good for taking, Gunships have something better, Combat Reboot. They can tank anything with that modules.
Commands are my favourite Fighters and yes, they are less tanky in terms of hull than Empire Gunships, Combat Reboot is an amazing ability.
Your right. I tried guass cannons in T3 and they suck on gunships. Tacklers they do wonders. Try Guass in T2, and you probably dominate.

In T2 ions dominate, just because people still can’t tank properly, or fly like a mosquito with parkinson, so the resistence reduction is great.

In T2 people cant use a Phase Shield on a guard
Gauss on a Shark is one of the strongest things I’ve seen in T2. Also Kallah with rails.

Even Prom X does hit 30k:
(Exemple of mine, I can take a screen if you want).
15k base survivability (Without taking in account auras and survival modules to be fair)
1500 in caps = 12k damage = 12k survivability (0 resist on diffusion)
Witch mean 27k.
I have 250 energy regen/secondes (200 with aura).
So a diffusion shield that last longer then 2 secondes add 3200 survivability (200x8 x2)
30k.
But commands are your favorites fighters so I forgive you

Still, Combat Reboot can tank infinite damage for a brief moment, even a huge Diffusion Shield pops up pretty fast against a heavy gunship.
For me the problem of combat reboot is that the window of immunity is too short. To prevent from a big attack with Combat Reboot, you have to see it coming and launch it with precision. I dislike the fact that if you want to fight with them you have to directly tank on your hull. Combat Reboot is nice, but take one place so I can’t equip Hull regen. And as a random player, there’s usually no engineers. At least diffusion shield come back each 15 secondes, witch allow to never leave the battlefield without dying.

Unless it is an Ion gunship…
Combat reboot in 90% cases used for removing disables or tank ocasional em/jer torp/octopus
Overall 1 to 1 survivability is relatively simple but in real life gunships are more survivable because they have benefits of having own tankiness+equped multipurpose modules AND commands buffs, while commands do not have as much luxery

In fact, Combat Reboot in 90% of cases is used because players panic for no reason xD
A commands main tank should be the gunship it is buffing
bubbles all day, every day. combat reboot is one of the best modules for gunship in my opinionnnn (apart from overdrive, sexy sexy overdrive)
I never used combat reboot…I must be doing something wrong. Something VERY wrong.

Meh, bubbles are good in some situations and builds, but long range ions are epic in squads. 3 gunship with 6km ions focusing a ship in overdrive. It’s like the game trailer, they last 2 seconds.

If you can focus down some one from 6km with ions, he is a total xxxx and you shouldnt be proud of kicking kids to the curb
