Arms Race Updates Discussion

Pilost! We’d like to remind you that an ‘Arms Race’ is on between corporations. Your corporation’s objective is to be among the first to finish a Dreadnought!

Amazing rewards!!

Well, yeah… Kinda the only way not to give the winners any advantage when it comes to economy or firepower. It would also be nice to see a dread with blue, red or any other unique body paint.

I just hope that customisation will be open to everyone eventually!  I think many people would pay GS to have a pimped out dreadnought

I want those stuff

I also hope that the customization options, which you put work in, are not again for just a couple of people, who are then again the same ones as always and become unlockable content at least partially one day, even for GS.

This elitism has to end. Really. It might work to motivate people, but in the end, it’s assets which everyone has to load, but only a few can use.

This is not the way to go. It is like giving candy over and over to the same people and make everyone else watch.

Especially, since we could really need more customization options across the board. More portraits, more colors.

All added content should be unlockable, for everybody, even if some content is pay-only, especially if it does not impact gameplay.

It’s nice if they get it first and free, or even can help designing them as a price, but it is not a price, if they get the stuff, and then it stays in the game like that, and only they have it.

Top 10 things, especially in MMOs, is a game design No-Go. You learn that in the first semester. It is one of the biggest and best researched no-gos of the industry.

What does work well, is early user gifts like prices for everybody who participated early - so the whole current playerbase who builds dreads, or like the special paint for all players in the beta period, or something which you can buy only for a certain period, as long as it does not impact gameplay. Those things are acceptable, desirable.

It was sad enough to introduce titles which could only be unlocked once by a few; but there it was understandable, acceptable, forgivable. It’s just a string. Bragging rights, in an established mechanic.

Same for special looking weapons in the beta, as prices for contests or as backer-gifts for early birds. Again, acceptable, especially since those prices were used again for other contests.

But we are now not in beta anymore, are we. Time to get professional.

Let’s not even talk about announcing prices as you go, in the second week.

Please think about this, hard.

On the positive side, I am happy, you think about customization mechanics on the dreads, and find it a good price, if the winners can use them earlier.

I must agree with g4borg and with everything he just said above.

As for the recent discount prices, it’s nice that they are here, but what is sad is, that they no longer have the same discounts.

We used to always have 50% bonus with purchases with GS.

It was 40% a few weeks ago. Now 35%.

More people would buy with 50% off than 35%.

(about the weekend sales)

Please, consider this and be more generous.

9th of May (Russian’s Victory Day - 70th Anniversary is quickly approaching - 1945)

You should really consider and repeat the same sale, like the ones you did last year, at least for this date and for the New Year. Or give 70% discount on T3-T5 ships.

2 times in 1 year total.

— Only the pilots of the fastest corporation will get access to a unique pack of pilot portraits available only to them. The pack will consist of portraits sent by the corporation’s members!

So the very feature so many of us have been requesting is now guaranteed for only one corporation. Good job. It has nothing to do with the dreadnoughts, but let’s just continue to throw the nice things that everyone would like to the elite Russian corporations, amirite?

Utterly rediculous.

Utterly rediculous.

Please don’t bring in the racist card, does not matter, which corps get it.

Chances are it is somebody you would not expect.

It’s fine to have prices.

Per se.

Amazing rewards!!

Probably a spacial scanner.

I see no rewards listed… Can someone plz post them in raw text?

EDIT: nvm. Saw the op.

And the quote “everyone has a chance to win” is a straight-up lie. Just stop. Please.

No offence, but it is hard to take you seriously while you keep using Comic Sans font

What she needs is some SF Slapstick Comic, then people will take her seriously!

Please don’t bring in the racist card.

Racist? How is it racist to state the obvious? The only corporations that ever stand a chance in this game are Scorp, Nova, and ESB’s many reincarnations. Maybe NASA squeaks in a win from time to time, if they are lucky.

I’ve made no derogatory statements against Russians. I’ve only claimed that this game is biased in their favor.

I have to agree with everything g4borg and SoldiersFortune said.

This is more elitism directed towards the “rich and powerful”, shoveling more and more rewards to them, instead of doing things that benefit everyone. And if history has taught us something, this strategy doesn’t work. I’m not saying there shouldn’t be a reward for finishing the dread first, but the reward shouldn’t be something that lots of people want. Giving the only top corp something everyone wants is like dangling a treat in front of a dog that is on a treadmill that always goes as fast as the dog runs, so it is impossible for the dog to reach it.

The reward should be something that hasn’t been widely requested by pilots in this game, but should still be worth trying for. For example, the custom paint-job is a great idea, provided that all corps will be able to paint their dreads similar to painting their ships. This will provide something that those who work hard for it can get, but those who don’t have the means to work for it won’t be too disappointed.

You are right. It isn’t derogatory to state the obvious facts. Even if this game isn’t biased in their favor, they still have far more resources than any corps that aren’t in the top echelons, despite how hard those corps work.

I’m not mad that it’s RU corps that are always on top, that is to be expected of a game where 83% (or whatever the percent is) of the player base is RU. I’m just mad that the devs do very little, if anything at all, to increase the player base in EU/US/AU, to actually give non-RU corps a chance to be on top.

I thought Ruasia was a communist country? Why’s the wealth all in one place? Spread the love people! XD

Is this supposed to be a god damn joke?

First you go and shout top 10 Corps get rewards then after we spend iridium to boost and then you decide “Ops lets just give the top 3 something”. Thats just like saying the rest of the corps who thought they could go into the top 10 “hey corps you know what here eat …”

Not to forget many players who went to farm some ididium for their corps for this event. Many small players from our corp for example said ok you know what i want to help the corp i can upgrade my modules later they will be sooooooo happy to hear about this. Great work really great work.

You guys really try hard the get rid of the current playing community do you? :fed014: :fed014: :fed014: :fed014: :fed014:

iaxil, Please tell me that’s a joke. I know devs opinion is based on majority of players (which means - RU players), but to be honest I was suspecting something like this. We tried very hard to convince our people to NOT donate iridium to speed up the process, as there is no point doing so. A long LONG time ago, some of the corps where allowed to increase their iridium storage. No one said why or anything. The thing was - someone, somehow knew why the iridium is needed and in what quantities. Possibility to increase the iridium storage was then removed. And so at this time we have some corps with over 100k storage space, fully prepared to spend their iridium to have a significant advantage in this competition. If the prizes were for top ten - then yes, there is a possibility to other corp to get those prizes, but now I don’t see it. And announcing the “Arms Race” and then defining the prizes in the second week AFTER it started?

As other pilots said in this thread - maybe you should think how to get more people playing this game and less about how to glorify a few corps more? It doesn’t work that way. Names of those corporations are synonymous with “cheaters and exploiters” amongst new players, which almost immediately kills the joy of playing this game. With lowering loot value in open space, people don’t want to fly there any more. Changes to matchmaking leaded to situations where three T1s squad was met with ESB two people R6 squad. Guess what was the reaction from those newbies? Yes, they’ve heard of ESB, DNO and whatnot. They just said “f…word cheaters again” and all three disconnected. Is that the direction of this game? To get more people disconnect?

and to end this OT rant:

After 15 months of active playing, spending proper amount of money to show the support for this game instead of going to nice, tropical holidays, I reached the point where I just can’t see this game can improve any more. With all those unsupported promises and stupid changes based on imaginary “majority of players” (sorry I just CANT see that REALLY majority of players - which means T2s T3s and occasional higher tiers would ie. requested the 80-90% nerf in Open Space loot value or 10 fold increase in resistance or requested a mission like below: )

I know most of you don’t give a rat’s xxxx about it, but I resigned from the position of NASA officer. I will play the game as I like flying in space in nice ships but I’m sorry - I will not support the game any more unless something drastically will change.
