Antibotting idea

Hey mates,

I was thinking about something to restrain botting possibilities.

At each end of game, if you insert a turing test as a mini game before getting rewards, couldnt it stop bots efficiency?

It would have to be fun and fast enough to not piss of players, and “hard” enough to be a pain in the xxxx for any guy wanting to create a bot.

If you think its a bad idea, please explain why.

Thank’s for reading,

Cheers,

ManiakMogg.

are there any bots yet ? :o

basically its a good idea but I think its to easy to crush … watch silkroad  they cant stop the bots.

Doesn’t a turing test require a human control?  Who gets that dubious honour?

Yes, and its about another topic i posted too, concerning trade in the game.

Well honestly, i got really no idea about how easy it is to crush…

Nono, well like captchas if you prefer.

But as a mini game, cause captchas are boring to death.

I would like to have a dev advice about the feasybility of that :).

Well, fair enough, but botters who’re just playing in windowed mode and doing something else will get through this fairly easily.

In this case its not really botters… Its another problem. Not sure it is interesting enough to have to worry about people doing that massively.

“True” bots are “fully afk”.

the way i see it, instead of inserting captcha into the game loading screen and annoy the entire community bots can be caught after the fact by looking at their (lack of) score and (lack of) meaningful game actions… since making a bot that actually tracks targets, goes to objectives and pretends to fight is much more difficult (but an interesting endevour nonetheless). Repeated low-scoring can be flagged for observation and the offender can be fined with the loss of credits/loot/modules/ships.
