Allow Us to Turn Off "Combat Recon" Mode in PVP

Do not underestimate LRF! Tier 3 and up they are capable of being captains

Ships I found to absolutely almost never to work are Tackler (as Stealth doesn’t work) and LRF

-> Means they don’t work for ME. They may work for others, though I have very rarely seen that. Only times I tried LRF in beacon cap, though, was by acident. And only survivable with some luck and incompetence on the side of the enemy team I.e. not even trying to kill me, constantly killing themselves in the minefield, etc. I have not found yet how to survive 2 CovOps at the same time smart enough to stay outside of the minefield. Whenever I see the enemy cap taking LRF, it seems to be over rather quickly (unless our own cap also gets himself killed). There may be players who can excel with LRF in beacon cap, but I’d wage a bet to state that those are less in number than those who fail with LRF in that (and most other) game modes, depending on the map being chosen.

If that’s the case then I’m apparently more effective than most of the playerbase because of 4 rank 4+ PVP games, I’ve played 3 in Combat Recon and been the Commander all three of those times.

Maybe add in a clause that says IF player X has less than (say, 50 PVP matches), player X may not be Commander?

This is really frustrating and I haven’t played PVP since those losses.  I know, I know, learn through failures and mistakes, but even if I know what I’m doing, I still wouldn’t want to be the commander because the amount of pressure on me in that position makes me play much worse.

Edit:What class should I be playing as if I’m chosen as commander?  What should I be doing?  Thanks for the responses, everyone.

I used to hate hate combat recon too but now it’s my favorite by far. Cap Eat Cap is the most gangster medal in the game.

And can confirm LRFs are the worst caps.

Not in the slightest. Tackler is the worst for cap. The aren’t survivable, cloak doesn’t work, and they don’t do much damage.

LRF does lots of damage and is fairly survivable. LRF only works as a cap ship if the pilot knows what they are doing. Only extremely experienced pilots (experienced with LRFs) should fly them as captain.

Empire LRF is awesome as captain, insane weapon dps and you can see everyone on map even cloacked ships.

This may be true for someone like you with 5000 battles experience. But for a new player in T2/T3, confronted with his first few recon games… maybe it’s not the best advice.

for new players the best choice is to go defensive ship guard or ecm,Guard can take lot of dmg and it can support their team, ecm is the tankiest interceptor and when it’s in trouble it can use special module so engy can heal him and can also dissable the attacker so it will be easier to kill him.
