Allow Us to Turn Off "Combat Recon" Mode in PVP

It chooses the “best” out of 3. It’s a 3v3, so in that case, it is entirely random and in small games the captain picking needs to be more restricted.

I agree. Maybe instead of picking from a fixed number, it could be from a fixed percentage of pilots (Maybe top 33% of pilots), this way, regardless of the game size, only the top pilots will be chosen. This will also bring more variety to large games (10v10+), as more than just 3 people can be captain.

Just a thought

I think in the first ten seconds , it should be possible to volunteer to be captain.  Afterwards if noone volunteers, it is chosen at random according to the current system.  At this point though, people can still volunteer, and if the randomly chosen captain clicks yes to someone who volunteers to take his place, then the captain is switched over.

Could cause issues if the skilled players don’t volunteer, but Leeroy Jenkins does.

So it’s like elementary school dodgeball in that nobody wants to be a target by being made team captain AND it’s an unrewarding position to play when you’ve been assigned it without any special bonuses?  Ugh…Really wish it was just a mode where two teams had to fight over a roving pack of AI with a commander and whoever kills the commander first wins.  Seriously, I don’t have the patience to go through some of the stuff I saw last night.  Being thrown on a team as commander with two other human players and one of them has 2 rank 3 ships in his lineup while the enemies are a group of veterans with max rank ships for that session AND Mk 4 everything?  I don’t see any other choice than to die as quick as possible so I can try to have fun playing a different mode or even just disconnecting.  I’m no leader, I’m not the type of person who can carry newbies, I’m not the type of person who functions well under pressure, and I’m sure a lot of people who play videogames are a lot like me in those regards.  Hell, if we managed to scrape a win out of that situation, then, even worse, I’d have a bunch of new players adding me and begging me to “teach me everything xDDDDD cmon man y rnt u accepting my request? helo? helo? hi? where r u?” Ok enough ranting, I guess I’ll just have to continue playing and get better.

Captains DO have special bonuses!

Captains get +75% damage. This is why players like me get really pissed at captains who hide at the back - if they got up front and fought with the rest of the team they could inflict massive damage, especially if they are getting damage boosts from modules!

What helps with the thing under pressure… don’t consider the other players to be humans. Until you get used to it, just act and fly as if everyone besides yourself is an AI controlled bot. Do what you would do if this were a single-player game. No one can reach out to you, harm you, or threaten you with any consequences. Why would it make a difference to you if the virtual representations you encounter are controlled by humans or AI?

I love combat recon! T3 is my favorite! Nobody can kill my blood tormentor. just ask dirk.

I thought we went through this episode before.   It had went down to the the HIGHEST ranked player on each side being picked.     It did not go over well after a few episodes… as the poor souls got picked 3- 4 games in a row.  So now it is the top 3.

Well unfortunately are games are not what they used to be in size so now we are getting the high probability of someone being picked on your side that some would consider to have a low survivability factor.

I am sure we have all gone through the so called randomness of the battles and get frustrated when we have several back to back Combat Recons or Team Battles in a row.

Am I the only one who likes being captain

Am I the only one who likes being captain

I like being captain whenever I have a good ship for it. But there’s definitely a lot of folks who don’t want to be captain.

Typically, I don’t want them to be captain either.

Am I the only one who likes being captain

Nope, I love being captain when I am in my LRF, people hate it

I beg to differ.

I knew i had it somewhere

I remember doing T3 combat recon against your positron sigurd in a styx once. Both teammates face-rushed and died, I didn’t get to cover because I was trying to run from the covert ops that was flanking me from below. Match lasted like a minute, total.

I have a simple proposal. Please, implement it, I beg of you! Do it! Do it now!

Matchmaking must automatically show 3 best players, which should be the Captain with the yellow star first, at the beginning of each match.

Example:

Koromac [ESB]

LudwigHR [ESB]

some random dude - with lowest rating compare to us, but still higher than the rest of the randoms.

Since MM randomly chooses between best 3, it can randomly selects the bottom one, which has no appropriate ship’s tier, syn rank, weapons or modules…

Matchmaking should automatically eliminate players without full and proper ship’s lineup.

It should compare synergy rank, ship’s rank and the number of ships as well as the weapons and equipment and modules.

Mark IV modules and weapons with equipment should be prioritised.

Fully synergised ships should be prioritised (can be ignored, if premium ship)

If all slots are properly equipped (invasion ammo and missiles excluded)

Group squads (should be always prioritised)

When there is 20 seconds left, voting confirmation begins!

If you click on the star sign, you give votes! Voting limit last 10 seconds!

You can only vote for 3 best pilots with the highest rating.

If you do not vote in time, vote will be automatically added by MM.

Once you reach 10 second countdown, a blue skull appears (blue crystal skull), indicating, that you’ve been selected as the Captain.

Get 75% damage bonus, play and try to win or at least to survive, if the kills are on your side.

I lose too, but I do my best to win to contribute to my team.

Optional: Voice Command recognition: Press voice chat key and yell Captain. 00555.png

Thank you!

Otherwise: 01414.png

LudwigHR: We got a Ace as a Captain.

Koromac: What now?

LudwigHR: Damn it. We are screwed!

Koromac: Let’s rush their Captain.

LudwigHR: Let’s go!

Koromac: Where is our Captain?!

LudwigHR: He’s down!

Koromac: Yeah…

Lightspeed!

You have too much free time

I beg to differ.

har har har har har.

You will find many different opinions on this. Ships classes I found viable: Guard, Engineer (those with good survivability, such as Styx). Ships I found to absolutely almost never to work are Tackler (as Stealth doesn’t work) and LRF (to squishy for such a non-mobile target - seeing the enemy cap picking a LRF and it’s not Tillo usually signals an insta-win). I have seen players being successful as ECM or even Command (consider 75% dam bonus with overdrive). I feel Gunships and Covops (also greatly benefits from damage bonus) may be risky, though work in the hands of very skilled players. Usually, Recon can work for me, but only if we have the better team (i.e. you can always run away and hide, but that doesn’t help to win). Just make sure you pick something that can withstand a salvo from a CovOps with Orion, and the follow-up Doomsday.

What one should be doing is to check if your team can hold itself (i.e. more kills than enemy) so you know you won’t lose on points. If you feel the enemy is evenly matched or maybe better, you may find it useful to support the team by using your captain damage bonus, which can really make a difference. Do not ever stay so far behind as to split your team, when the enemy doesn’t do the same. If an Engineer, stay close enough to keep as many of your guys in your healing range (and stay close to cover). With guard, try to stay at a distance which allows your weapon to reach the front line (and stay close to cover). If you see your team is starting to lose on points, help them push/kill. I’ve seen very aggressive caps being successfull, but you have to know when you have to retreat to your healers. For me it seems to work best to stay mostly in cover, but close enough to the front to kill enemy strays, and to stay in range to support the own team, while not splitting your team. And I prefer a fast, lost match to a drawn out, lost, slugfest.

I always get annoyed if it starts to become clear my team starts losing on points, but still the cap stays at the back, and keeps several other ships there with him, leaving the players trying to kill the enemy cap, or score kills, hopelessly outmatched. Or if you move in and damage the enemy cap, no-one follows in to finish him off. But the worst is when you were losing on points, then you killed the enemy cap, and you’ve basically won, and then your own cap gets cocky and gets himself killed like 2 seconds before the match ends.

Do not underestimate LRF! Tier 3 and up they are capable of being captains
