Allow ships to spawn in even if client is disconnected

Currently, ships do not spawn in if the client crashes or disconnects during the waiting period before a match starts. While this has little to no effect in PvP matches, since there are usually multiple spawns, it can be very irritating in PvE and Spec Ops missions due to the one respawn mechanic.

As it is, if the client crashes or loses connection in Spec Ops or in a PvE mission, my ship will not spawn and as such when I reconnect I am instantaneously out for the rest of the match (Unless I use a Duplicator, which is a rather rare resource).

This is made even more infuriating by the fact that it sometimes takes upwards of 10 minutes to find a match for these modes, and while I’m fine with waiting 10 minutes to play the game I’m not as thrilled when I wait 10 minutes for a repair bill and no income. Star Conflict crashes quite often in Spec Ops and PvE missions for me, too.

What I’m suggesting here is that ships should be spawned in PvE and Spec Ops mission, even if the user is disconnected from the server. If the player does not plan to reconnect, then the ship will probably be destroyed within a few minutes anyways. If the player has just crashed and is trying desperately to reconnect, then he’ll still be able to play the game.

Summary:

Spawn ships in PvE and Spec Ops even if the user is not connected to server.

In order to prevent confusion among pilots this will not happen. Otherwise you would spawn and look like someboday that is afk farming.

That may be true, but I think something should still be done to correct the issue of crashes preventing people from playing the match at all. An alternate method would be to give a 1 minute grace period in which the player is held in the “waiting to spawn” status, and if the client reconnects within that time frame (Which is enough to reopen the client and reconnect after a crash) the ship can spawn as usual. If not the ship won’t spawn at all.

Afk farming happens in open space, not in missions.

The OP made a good suggestion here.

Another Idea would be to let the pilot spawn when he reconnect/connect so he/she dont need an duplicator

For PvE missions, it could be that your ship is spawned only if you lost connection but not if you pressed “Leave Battle”.

I think in all PvE missions if the player doesn’t end up returning then there are always bots that will destroy their ship.

There are times when people spawn in but get afk/DC and end up sitting there anyway. The bots take care of the ship and even if they have a fully maxed engi that lasts longer than the remaining players, it won’t survive when all the AI attacks then

I doubt afk farming is even possible in Spec Ops or PvE.

In PvE, bots are a lot stronger than the average fare in Open Space and come in large numbers. Simply relying on combat drones is not enough to defend yourself against PvE bots.

In Spec Ops, combat drones won’t even come close to being useful if you’re just afk. First, the only things you can destroy with them are the torpedoes, which are fast and spread out; secondly, the gravity and energy missiles of the Destroyer will make sure that if you don’t actively play you’ll be decimated within seconds.

If it’s not going to happen for PvE, at least implement this for Special Operations; there’s little reason not to (Not that I can see, at least), and it’ll be a relief to not be afraid of a crash wasting your 7 minutes in queue.

Exactly.

So, will it still not be implemented due to supposed AFK farm confusion?

We will think about it, but it won’t be implemented in the near future.
