Your work before becoming a mercenary in SC

Post your story!  ;)wt

I was a mobile platforms operator of 12 years for a large Federation military contractor whose core business was reselling decommissioned vessels to the private sector. When the company expanded it’s operations to include flight testing I signed up mainly because the test centers were close if not inside Jericho space. And Jerry babes are hot. Didn’t take long before test pilots including myself started getting recruited into the many mercenary wings along the frontier territories.

If the rumours are to be believed, Jasan Quinn commands a small military-grade carrier which acts as the base for his band of mercenaries / pirates. The name is assumed to be a “Dread Pirate Roberts” affair, with representatives of the pirates adopting the name as and when it suits them. Nevertheless, a pirate claiming to be Jasan Quinn was approached by the Wardens with an offer of a privateer contract. After several missions on behalf of the Empire, the pirate carrier dropped off the grid and has since appeared in several combat zones, deploying Empire, Federation and Jericho ships into border skirmishes. As the ships continue to fly the Wardens iconography it is assumed their loyalties remain with the Empire, though the carrier is currently supporting the Raid in anti-Federation efforts.

Intricate was a poor farmer boy. He was bogged down with debt due to medical procedures to cure the AIDS he had contracted from an unsanitized pleasure bot. After the war broke out, the empire promised to forgive debts for pilots who fought against Jericho and federation. Intricate worked his way up, from a janitor boy on an empire dreadnought to an ace pilot to a high ranking spy. After numerous spying operations, his cover was blown. With his reputation tarnished, his commanding officer turned on him and fired him. Heartbroken, he wandered the galaxy, until he met a group of space bandits, who took him in and helped change his identity.

His whereabouts are unknown, but it was said that he was spotted raiding transport ships and dreadnoughts.

I would kill everything in sight.

loooooooool !

Imperial Reconnaissance pilot.

Used to microwarping deep behind enemy lines in my trusty Dvergr 2, I gained an independent streak that didn’t mesh well with the strictly regimented Imperial Navy. So, I went freelance to enjoy more freedom and put my initiative to work.

I was a Federation smuggler, running supplies and classified documents past Empire patrols to the Jericho to help with diplomacy efforts. However, since relations between the Federation and the Jericho have broken down, I find it much more profitable to sell my skills as a mercenary.

I specialize in Federation frigates and tackler fighters. Currently I am employed with the DYN2 mercenary corporation.

I started off as a pilot in the Empire Imperial Space Fleet. After several hundred skirmishes and battles with Federation and Jericho alike, I begun to question what my purpose in life was. I would kill 20-21 ships and come back to the space fleet with a pat on the back and a few medals. I have so many medals, to wear them would cover my front, back, and xxxx! I started to grow weary of the snobby attitudes of my leaders, and even my squad mates.

One fine day, just as I was about to waste another Federation Alligator pilot; I stopped. To this day I don’t know why, but I stopped. I opened up comms with the enemy pilot and began talking to him. We talked about the Empire, the Federation, Jericho. After much talking and thinking, I let him repair his ship and followed his warp gate back to Federation headquarters. I spoke with several high-ranking officers, and decided to join them in their fight against the Empire & Jericho raiders.

Ever since then, I have been in countless battles preserving freedom and the right to say whatever you feel like saying, whenever you want to say it. May God help me in my endeavors of cleaning the galaxy of Empire & Jericho pilots who have no respect for free speech.

Federation Pilots; WHAT IS YOUR PROFESSION???

RAWR

Federation Spaceship Developer (shielding/hulls/frigates)

Be warned… kinda long :stuck_out_tongue:

In the year 4738 (47th) century i was a Federation Spaceship developer, well paid and one of the core members of the FFRG

the Federation Frigate Research Group. Well informed of the recent jericho attack and their ability to now manipulate

shielding of our mainline alligator and Raptor frigates, which reverses the polarity on the shields to completely drain

them and it actually increased the jericho shielding. Sadly i had to find a way around this, 5 months researching…

Jericho attacks becoming more frequent, while the federation have struck a deal with the empire to protect their planets

in return for harvesting planets. It became apparent that the hull was what needed work. Summed up i worked the shields to

give Same level defenses, while increases the resisitive plating another 50%, at the same time my coworker and i completed

a project that give’s frigates a fighting chance. Drones. Repair drones to be exact. while having plenty of power these

guys will automatically find and patch any hulls or exterior damage to “said” frigate.

Soon after that our federation was on top again, fighting off the jericho attacks who has yet to develop another way past

our defense. then rebellions were occuring more often within the federation. my frigate’s designed were being over used and

ill maintained, this led me to sorrow. i soon quit the FFRG and pulled all my money and spent 4 and a half years developing

my very own frigate. Max armor plating and some home made technology nobody has seen yet, with a decently acceptable shield

barrier, 2 repair drones, and i even managed to sneak out the FFRG’s 2 attack drones  food for a long time and a small crew

to keep us going. My journey would be long. But no longer are the Federation my people they support ubserd rebellions costing

lives, and money for what? corruption? the empire was to dictatorship for my tastes. I could never be with Jericho (unstable

Unsafe, controlled by the technology they craft into themselves. even with my ability in ships. i never have needed an

implant.

But i now know what i must do. I am traveling to Sector 1337 to see if it’s possible evidence for any radio signals being

generated. Knowing it’s dangerous it’s a risk i’m willing to take. I have calculated that if i move at a certain speed

and cut power when close to the Precursors site, i can drift through it unnoticed, thanks to my cloak of course.

To be continued…

NightHaunter is the call sign given to this enigmatic pilot hailing from imperial space. Whilst most information about him remains classified it is known he is an ex imperial fleet interceptor pilot now acting as a freelance mercenary though rumors persist that the Imperial high command still control’s his actions which seem to center around Precursor technology and information. Why they would seek to operate off the books operatives despite the high amount of real freelancers active in the search of precursor information and technology is unknown. NightHaunter’s call sign can be heard far and wide fighting upon all sides of the conflict…to what end? All that can be said is that he represents a new tactic employed by the Imperial Navy and therefore should warrant further study and if possible capture.

The story “Hunt for Lucky-six” is now being posted, and was written in part to provide more backstory to my Star Conflict persona. Anyone who cares about said backstory may want to read it.

Imperial Police Forces.

Never liked the job, too many rules, we were always forced to disable pirate ships instead of just shooting out of the sky as they deserved it. So I gave them the finger and bought my own Axe. It’s been a rather profitable job ever since and I can say it kills not only time.

My spaceship would name… Cruzzer a frigate with a class name Torrent.

I’m not a talker. Well, not a very good one. I prefer to administer judgement, and ask questions later. “Actions speak louder than words,” y’know, the whole shebang. But let’s be frank here - You want to hear my story, you’re gonna get a compressed version of it.

Ever heard of the Yellow Jackets? Yeah, thought so, we weren’t exactly a popular law enforcement outfit, being a bunch that operated on the edges of the Imperial Frontier, and I must admit, our title sounded kinda lame. Moving on. We earned a reputation of cracking down on the hardest scumbags that dared to sow dissent amongst Imperial citizens. We did it fast, and we did it hard. We taught every single one of these cocky maggots that everything they do to undermine the Emperor’s rule has an equally unforgiving price, and whatever retribution that is going to be visited upon them will sting them so hard it’s gonna leave an imprint on their souls for the rest of their days. Needless to say, though a meager bunch, we Jackets earned the respect of local Imperial garrisons.

Occasionally, we’d be called upon to take care of Federation or Jericho saps trying to get a free pass into Imperial space. Each and every one I encountered was an unlikeable sod who thought that the Empire is a big shitstain on humanity. Sigh. What else is new? People go crazy upon hearing the word “free,” I guess. Sooner or later they’ll learn that freedom as a concept is fuggin’ dead in the space lanes, I was all like.

Then came the big one that set me apart from my fellow Imperials. One time, we were ordered to track down the source of certain illegal dealings on the planet Nineveh, but when we finally found a trail on who our big bad trafficker was, our lead took us to the top brass. We’re talking advisors and generals here, who have gained the Emperor’s respect. Long story short, when I tried to implicate the ringleaders, the law turned on me. Who fugging knew? I lost my badge then; gotta thank God I wasn’t executed then and there. The whole fiasco made me pretty damned angry that our mighty Empire, which holds itself to high standards of law, can’t even put itself together in that department. Guess I should not have been so surprised.

What a load of crock. So I left the outfit, despite pleas and offers from my fellow Jackets to secretly put me back in the crew. I was fuggin’ outraged. Hell, outraged is an understatement. I sought my fortunes elsewhere, so long as it included kicking xxxx and teaching others hard lessons about life, or their own imminent death. While I sold my services to the highest bidder, the well-being of the Empire still had a place in my heart. Must be hard to take all those years of principle out of me. Cripes. Every time I think about it, I go, “You’ll want me back. You’ll see.”

Mercenary work is a tad liberating though, makes me realize a few things. Like… maybe, freedom isn’t dead - you just gotta earn it with blood.
