Your main ship

Sniper frig all the way. I prefer healing and support roles, and ranged classes in my games.

My main ship is a interceptor. I enjoy the maneuverability and speed. I wish I had a bit more power, but I suppose sacrifices must be made.

Frigate (Alligator-M) : Good support for captain missions (even if im the captain). Has missile defense, have regen for hull and shields on it, along with enough offense to take down any solo fighter or interceptor. Also very good for point capture missions for the same reasons of defending a point.

Interceptor (Hawk Eye): Super agile and is very good for harassment. I can get away from things and out maneuver almost any one shooting at me, including people with lasers. Very easy to kill people with out being killed my self.

The interceptor takes the greatest advantage of the flight controls and packs them into a deadly little machine of DHOOM.

Interceptors ftw!

:bomber:

interceptors for sure

As I’ve only logged a few hours in-game, the frigs seem a bit unwieldy to me. I think it’s a play-style I’ll have to research…especially since I’ve been sniped at looong range by them. At present, the Lynx-M is my bird of choice, for all-purpose stuff. As my hours climb, this will defo change.

fighters are my first choice in most cases—unless I badly need the mobility of a intercepter to reach somewhere in a hurry, or I happen to become a captain meaning I have to be as beefy as possible. A fighter can provide a variety of things: agressive buff Valkyre system, nice stuff; substantial damage with a rapid-fire plasma plus Empire’s performance enhancer, nice stuff; ability to survive on the skin of my teeth, shield boosters, hull boosters, Federation’s invisibility, exceptionally nice stuff because it’s my style.

Do you find much success playing frigates as captain? It’s my experience that frigates are too slow to avoid the enemy blitz.

2-3 man squad with frig/fight/inty is a good combo.

I know after posting this it is probably going to be used often, but here it goes.

Frig with shield or hull aoe, whichever it has more of, propulsion inhibitor, and pulsar.

Fighter is support with buff setup or tackler, but buff would be best.

And Jericho fighter. Enemies rush, inty pops aoe stun as enemies fall victim to prop inhibitor, and fighter/frig pops mine net., while frig pulsars. Very nasty combo, even for 2-4 enemy rush.

Frig should always have both repair auras + Pulsar at T2 unless you can field multiple Frigates to split the roles but there isn’t much point to wielding more than one Frigate at a time.

And Jericho Fighters are crap, Empire fighters are better in every way.

No one in their right mind will fly near enough of a Mine Field to get hit  by it.

You are on the right way there but you got a lot to improve on still.

Best setup for 3 man squad is propably Alligator-M/Phobos Aura/Stiletto AE for T2.

definetly interceptors (or alternatively fighters).

As it is now, the interceptors and fighter ships are just more effective - not because of their inherent features, those are pretty balanced - but because of the impact on the battlefield within the given timeframe of one match.

I found myself using the jericho frigate which btw is nice to play with her special ability. The problem is to be effective u have to hit multiple targets with ur missile. Considering the time the missle takes to reach its destination (and ur not sitting on the frontline with ur frigate obviously) and the chance that u will find exactly the situation at hand that u need - multiple ships packed together - is just too situational to be of a big use. In random games at least. That could be completely different in clan battles in the future though.

Never played the empire sniper frigate though i found it pretty nasty as opponent when I played the first few battles. Now i find that playin the fed interceptors it is not that hard to fly erratically enough and use obstacles to hide against the sniper shots long enough to get into close range with them… And then they dont pose a threat anymore. Supposing that they are unguarded that is…

What leaves us the fed frigate which was my most underrated ship at the beginning though I am starting to like it more and more. It is made for medium distance combat due to the lack of the super-ranged ability that the other two frigates have. And it certainly takes some time to understand where and how u should fly this ship to be of any use. But for example i found that not a lot things are harder to kill than a good captain (in recon missions) hiding behind a rock with a fed frigate concentrating fire on you.

Apart from that interceptors are just so agile and fun to play. U gotta be on your toes all the time of course but u can have a lot of fun. I just adore the feeling with 3 or more people on my toes trying to kill me while Im evading their shots and dodging into passages in stones and whatever stuff is lying around in open space… Just gives me that “anakin-skywalker-feeling”… I love that  Especially when u do that, hide somewhere turn around and surprise the enemy by attacking them… Lovely! :))

Fighters on the other hand are well balanced in matters of survivability and not lacking firepower like their smaller brethren the interceptors. Together with really interesting specials and the highest resistances of all the ship classes - yea take a look into that - they make up for some nice game too.

Frigates are nice to fly.  Follow allies around, and stand back 3-4k from the furball and support them.  They also are the only particularly viable way to do scenarios at present.

I will try out interceptors again once I actually get a T2 or T3 one.  Until then, I’m stuck with the fighter as my small ship, but its not bad.  Its a good buffer.

.

Empire interceptor, love the warp thing.Useful for early capturing beacons, get to the bomb first, fast moving around the map so you can always be where neded or to get out of trouble fast. You can also warp near enemy cpt and suprise him, i have even manage to kill some cpt by raming them while in warp flaying in from other side of the map killing them instantly( they had full shield and hull).warp works to move you about 14km up in about 2sec but with some training you can control how far you want to go, it can be anything betven 2-14km.Love to warp near enemy frigate and drop my load of mines on top of him:)

I’m a bit of a newb but well. I like the fighter. You will often see my first ship in conbat is the interceptor though. I get a beacon and after I die I switch back. I especially love federation cloak fighters though.

Kris AE, jericho ecm intercepter

Been flying mostly interceptors and this one looks the most stabilized for me.

Frigates i only use to mass nuke or spam minefields.

I’m still looking for a good fighter that has abit the same speed and movement ability from an interceptor.

Machete Type S Command Gunship, I slapped a Hailgun Mark III on it and drift around the outskirts [3-4km] of battle as best I can to zap bugs I see flying, when this sucker crits people start freaking out. I feel almost like a frigate except I’m not powered by molasses. So far my highest assists in a round is 58 :'D, I fricking love being able to rotate around looking for a target getting pegged by someone else, they rarely are in evasive maneuvers to avoid whats coming.

LRF’s becuase i am the hammer that makes you hide and the “WTF why is my shield gone” maker. i attack the big targets and hurt the campers makeing people move while my team keeps them buzy.

I like Fighters personally, since they are a good blend of speed, offense, and defense. When I fly Interceptors I find myself flying around doing decent damage while avoiding incoming but being killed in a second if I mess up even slightly. When I fly Frigates I feel like an anchor, unable to quickly follow the fight or adjust to changing battle situations.

So I end up flying command fighters, playing around in the middle grounds, buffing my other guys and going on strafing runs down the line to take down enemies and lure their guys forward. Also, fighters tend to carry the most heavy missiles, which I tend to fill up with Mine Fields. Really helps in those beacon games and dogfights with interceptors when they are chasing you through tight spaces or you are spiraling.

Atm, Superkite or whats the name of the thing? … T2 Empire Engineer Friggi, damn good ships for beacon capture or ground holding / team supporting activities.

Other then that  @T3 is a Cerb2 and the Desert Eagle, haven’t found a proper inty that serves my tastes so i’m experimenting with the Jericho tree atm.

I perfer to fly the Engineering Frigates because of the drone control and the support it provies to other players, to many times i’ve seen my buddies go down without help.
