I was wondering what people use to fly in this game, and maybe in other flight games as well.
I was considering to use the throttle of my Thrustmaster T.Flight Hotas X like I do in some other games like Planetside 2, but I am not a pro pilot and despite the additional axis on the throttle, it seems to have too few axis/buttons, especially since my Corsair Vengeance M65 only has 3 thumb buttons.
I don’t even think the game would allow the analog throttle input in addition to my mouse? At least that’s the case with my current setup, the Logitech G13, so I got the arrow keys assigned to the analog stick, which works alright I guess. AWSD for strafing, arrow keys with my thumb for roll and thrusters, still plenty of keys left for modules.
What is everyone else using? Maybe anyone got some advice for improvement?
Yea well, mice are the perfect aiming tool, at least when it is a proper one with a proper mouse pad.
But keyboard really isn’t the best for this type of game. How many keys do you use on a T5 ship?
Can you conveniently reach all 4 strafe keys, thrust control, roll keys AND all the modules you regularly use in combat?
I already struggle in terms convenient despite having a 4key stick at my disposal for my thumb. But each time I want to push a module key I still have to take a finger off a strafe key. Not huge deal, but not optimal either.
What I would love for this game is a 3 or more axis throttle with 10 buttons, then again, are they ever going to allow mouse together with analog input devices?
Budget wired CmStorm keyboard and a logitech g502 mouse, but man this game isn’t a “real” space simulator. I mean i like Elite, the X series, Freespace and Star citizen (I have 2 joystick, and pedals for that). But this is much more a “third person shooter” in space, and it can be so damn funny the way it is!
I feel like I should get a different keyboard, since the laptop one doesn’t take as many inputs as I give it. Sometimes I’ll mash a button at what may have been the right time, but unfortunately the poor thing can’t understand that I’m telling it to strafe, accelerate, afterburn, roll, and activate combat reboot all at the same time.

Same, mine has three keys maximum at the same time I think
Keyboard is better for almost EVERY game. Unless you go all out like Spongejohn I guess
A G110 keyboard and Sidewinder mouse for me.
You know, when i was addicted to X i also used a lot the keyboard 'cause that game have an huge amount of keyboard shortcuts. But the feeling of 2 joy and pedals while you are in battle is really awesome.
The weirdest thing about mine is that it doesn’t let me use the trackpad while holding the spacebar! I wish I knew what went on in this thing.
That issue is called “ghosting”, you can easly solve that with any cheap wired keyboard made for gaming.
Wouldn’t it be cool if there was a machine that tracked your body and eye movement to know exactly what you want. Not talking about Oculus.
Just imagine lifting up your left hand and performing manuvers with slights twitches of fingers. Moving your entire right hand changes the camer view while twitching fingers activates modules. The cursor moves as fast as your eye track the targeting reticle.

Mechanical keyboards man, well worth the buy. You can press every button on the keyboard and it will register
