Your Best Styx Builds

Just curious to see what some others are using on their Styx.

Here’s mine, and yeah, I know…if I’m less than 110% speed, I’m much less tanky, but that doesn’t happen too often.

With adaptive on, all hull resists are over 150 pts, almost all shield points are over 50.

It’s not COMPLETELY full purple, but the core parts of this build are finished.  Also, I’ve considered using the R1 fed implant because my resists are so high…but having such high resist pts on everything just feels soooo nice

We tested this build yesterday, and my shields tanked a complete anomaly blast.  It did basically exactly 11K damage, which is my full shield volume.  Each shot on my hull from a disintegrator did ~3K damage…so you can survive TONS of these.  Plus, since you’re constantly healing, you can obviously take much more damage, as long as it is spread out over a bit of time.  With this build, rotation sucks, but it’s not unflyable.  It’s actually surprising how well this ship does when trying to out-last a fight because being on the move constantly makes it harder for the enemy to formulate a plan to destroy the ship.

Many will probably say this is a stupid build, because DOOD YOU’RE GONNA GET TACKLED SO ******* HARD!!! LUL!!!.  But I dare you to test it for yourself.  Resist builds are amazing, and with a repair station going, too, this ship is practically indestructible unless ganged up on.  Stay with your team, use your combat drones, and do your best to stay on the move, shaking enemies and healing teammates.

Enjoy!

Gimme WolfKhan’s build.

I have never flown a Styx before.

With adaptive on, all hull resists are over 200 pts, almost all shield points are over 100.

Math much? I told you last night - no, your ALL hull resists are NOT over 200, i’ll tell you today that again - your all hull resistances are not over 200.

Woops, was thinking 2 adaptives.  Editing!

That rotation is ridiculous, and you don’t need that many resistances considering Gigas II existence. 17k hull points is pretty low too.

I’m not good at maths but 2 galvas and 1 armor plated hull would keep you alive longer than 3 galvas. In fact I’d use 2 galva armors and armor plated hull but using E1 implant instead of J1.

Like I said, it SEEMS like it’s worse, but imo it’s not because of heal factor.  It takes much longer to heal with higher hull points, and being at less than 100% hull usually makes you a target.  So I try to stay away from longer heal times.

I like using Blue’s build. Maybe he will share :->

I’ll say again you don’t need the third galvanized armor

Gimme WolfKhan’s build.

capacitor power relay + async shield projector + 3x regenerative coating

Vernier, capacitor power relay (or pulse discharger), adaptive shield, 2 galva +reactive armor, horizon.

I think he uses it as a moving station, not positioning with it, so the rotation is necessary to compensate the galvanized. In that case, 1 armor-plated would be a good idea, it makes you slower, but boost up your rotation.

And 3 galvanized is good against almost everything. The only weakness is the Ion Emitter, but you are screwed anyway against it, even if you put in an armor-plated.

I’m using mine with 3galvanized as well, with strafe implant and shared-cooler, and Ion Beam with crit-build. Interceptors usually die quickly, weaker ones just instapop. Perfect against almost everything.

theoretical:

3 galva + healing is better against higher rates of dps, because obviously, your healing has to negate less damage over time

2 galva + armor plating + healing gives you more standing power against focus and alpha however, because once damage is way over healing rate, your buffer comes into play. also, frigates have big numbers in the hulls, so giving extra % results in more raw hull.

i think both are viable options. anyway, styx is also about movement; tank isn’t everything, just nice to have. treat it like a stone and you will sink to the bottom of the ocean fairly quickly.

i love the positron on this monster. but i am more the valor guy.

reducing the speed with low accelerations like frigs have isn’t always a bad idea anyway for certain shield modules. *cough*

This is the reason I wanted to try the pure resist build.  It is EXCELLENT at out-tanking damage over time, as long as it is spread out.  So yes, alpha strikes can take this beast down, but it takes a highly coordinated strike, or sheer overpowering of resists/heals.  I found that, when staying on the fringes of battle, this ship is nearly indestructible; but again, only if you have time to spread the damage out.

I’m currently trying Residente’s idea of swapping one galva with an APH, and switched my R1 implant to empire.  So I still have high resists because of adaptive, but my hull tank is much higher.  So I can take a lot of damage from an alpha strike, but I cannot take repeated strikes like the other build can when spread out with a bit more time.  I think it takes a little over 40% longer to heal with this build.  So again, if you’re less than 100% hull, you will be made a target more, which is why I thought the resist build was better in the first place.  Not sure quite yet; I need to get the playstyle down a bit more

How’s your energy stability on that thing? I dropped my shield aura for a shield egg on mine because it’s not energy stable otherwise.

I met engle ingame with my deagle, and he was a really tough target. It took coordinated efforts of command + gunship to take him down.

I actually took out the Iridium Heatsink and put in a Voltage Regulator.  It’s only MK. III right now, but I’m getting 212 pts/sec with energy emit, mass shield, and nanodrone going.  From what I’ve come to understand, energy emitter produces about as much energy as your mass shield and nanodrone use.  I get 212/sec, my AB drain 173, but I’m using the R7 implant to help with AB draw.  Basically, this build allows you to stay above 50% capacitor charge to lay down a station whenever you need it.  However, popping a drone and laying a station will drain your capacitor and kill your AB for a moment.

You just have to play smart with this build.  The energy is not a problem anymore, though it is with Iridium Heatsink.

Here is my Styx build. It is meant to be a mainly stationary healer that can provide decent fire-support.

Why shield egg instead of hull? The hull egg helps both you and your team/squad better

People come to near dead and you drop hull station heal them back to full quickly. Shields regen fast enough from native regen and shield aura

shield eggs are nice for guards. depends a bit on the team you are used to play with.

while i think the styx does a wise choice going repair beacon, i think the 4th module on the styx, or any healer, is entirely up to the pilot or the team. both eggs, but also warpgate, make some sense; shields on the other hand only make sense, if the regen is plentyful.

what hurts me more is beam cannon with hs and range on a styx. what a waste of positron opportunity!
