The Mjolnir is great, but it would require too much of Monocrystals, which are the bottleneck in regard to SC resources these days…

Yeah. Everything switched towards xenocrystals and blocks, and there isn’t any monocrystals income left. A few drops in PVE\PVP.

With recent buff to Ions and A-Rails, I really see no point to close combat (there wasn’t much for awhile, but now it is just sad ![:(](<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/003j.png “:(”) ). At least Tharga and Taikin were capable of close combat performance in the world of uber guards and destroyers and mid range weapons, but unfortunately general population can not stand anything capable of brawling ![:(](<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/003j.png “:(”)

Stick two or three good engineers on a Tyrant and it fares pretty well close-range until a wallet warrior shows up.

What wallet warrior? What 3 engineers? Why Tyrant? What are you talking about?

There is now way you can make Tyrant a close-range ship just because every gun and module have a distance of 3500-5000+ - thats mid-long range. You can use them in close for sure, but they not intended too. Gauss range is 3850 - thats long range.

xKostyan point was, that after Tai’Kin and Thar’Ga  nerfs we have a game, where only long range are guns are relevant, since by closing the distance you risk a lot, but do not receive even nearly enough reward for this move.

Its easier to kill dessie with LRF (even with mortar) then with CovOps with Arc just because you are so vunreable on, and unlikely to survive, even if you manage to kill.

Thar’Ga and Tai’Kin though, could deal much more dmg in close range and come back more or less intact. And to do so, they required some button mashing, unlike dessies. So risk-reward balance was there for them.

It should be good as long as it will have bonuses (40% dmg and 60 pts. resistance) since his stats are weak.

Also, you will need really good ping.

Yeah bonuses are indeed great, but last time i tried, you could not use any ships below r12 (or was it r13?) if you had r15 in a slot -they would be “unavailable”,
