Wobble of one of the Escort Ships during Convoy Escort - Annoying Bug

Bug report: (an old bug - Open Space issue with all Convoy Escorts  - Pirate, Allied, etc.)

What happened?

Usually, when you change hangar and undock, you see this happening.

Sometimes it happens even after prolonged time in the Open Space, while you jump to another sector!

One of the Escort Ships starts to wobble and jumping all over the map (2D map shows this), with strange geometric engine trails that are left behind.

Usually, this ALWAYS only happens to one Escort ship.

If you touch or collide with the ship, you will be bounced off and the same effect will most likely happen to your ship!

What should have happened?

All Escort ships should be in normal formation.

How to replicate this bug: (unknown exact reasons, but there are some specifics:)

  • Best and quick results can be observed in the Empire sector and after you un-dock after the first time, but not necessarily.

(sometimes you can just jump and see the same effect as well in different sectors)

  • Log into the game, undock immediately, (all targets must be toggled and visible, even on 2D map). (bigger chance of occurrence, but not always guaranteed)

  • Go to a few different sectors. Observe all Convoy Escorts and their Escort Ships. (Empire Guardian-17 sector is the easiest to reproduce this issue.)

  • I always equip a Spatial Scanner in Open Space, but I am not sure if it has anything to do with this. (Station Protection is always set to Off.)

  • This issue is pretty common. It will happen if you’re a bit persistent. I think it may have something to do with their trajectory and collision or object placement.

It seems that ping plays no role in this. Low ping, high ping, etc. (This issue can happen on all Convoy Escorts and always at least one Escort Ship!)

Video: (One of the ships will uncontrollably wobble. Hitting the ship will propel your own ship all over the map, resulting in a possible crash or it will just copy that behaviour to your own ship as well.)

Logs: (Logs from this recorded event are included.)

We know but can’t reproduce on our dev server.

It never happened on your end, not even once?
