About your problem, it could be a problem related to your connection. the connection test had quite high pings. >400ms is way to much to play. 150ms is critically. may have a look on the ingame ping. press f11 to see it. it will be displayed in the bottom left corner if you are in battle.

otherwise, servers got some new hardware. they might need some tunings to perform better.

It’s that one, #15 the first one going into Russia. I hope it melts one day.

Why ships cannot fly in a straight line (clientside) when under heavy lag ?

All flight calculations are handled by the server. At the moment of a lag spike, the client tries to calculate the flight trajectory without the server’s help. When the correct information finally reaches the client, the trajectory is changed to reflect the situation which may result in a sudden “jerk”. This is why the trajectory may become jagged.

I lag on USA server at +220ms

But do not have wobble issues

I lag on EU server at 300ms

But do not have wobble issues unless server is under heavy load (usually weekends, weekdays are fine)

I lag on RU server at 330ms

And I get wobble issues all the time

wobbling have been reported multiple times and many more mention it but do not see the need to post a bug report because Dev consider this as high latency issue.

It is not. You can have high ping but not wobble.

Problem is with server trying to correct client side navigation on a bad connection quality with packet drops / losses.

It is hardware problem on hops that Dev do not own and Users cannot easily avoid

Alternative is to make server side code ‘less strict’ in cases where there are errors or delays between client-server.

First instance of wobbles was introduced in patch 0.8.1

First reported on 25 May 2013 ( one year ago )

It was also when SCon was moved to a new server or new hardware installed

And wobbles have persisted ever since with little done since then except on patch 0.10.3 when I returned to the game I noticed wobbles were less common but is replaced with ‘normal’ type lag phenomena like skipping and rubberbanding. Although bad for online play but it is not worse and in many ways better than wobbles.

Subsequent patch ‘fixed’ that and returned the normal type wobble back.

Saying people with 150ms or higher ping shouldn’t play online games is ludicrous as all other multiplayer online games can handle lag elegantly. Games like counterstrike or planetside2 have no trouble accommodating players with large differences in ping. Leave this unfixed and Star Conflict will remain a Russian exclusive game. If you want to grow NAmerican/Asia population you need to make conditions for those already playing now acceptable so it remains populated at a minimum level to convince new comers to stay.

Solving wobbles is a good place to start.

Agreed! And I would really love less lag or wobble in open space mode… or guard squad/droneship squad might be a thing
