with no points for winning, there is no good reason for fighters to support bombers. Yes there is a bomber rescue bonus its it doesnt make up for following a bomber around for half the game.
Without something to adress this heavy bombers will continue to be picked apart in arcade.
Even when the entire team DOES spring to the aid of a bomber pilot, they still get chewed to pieces in seconds if they’re not either an uberfast interceptor or a Cerberus 2.
Said interceptors seem to manage just fine, I don’t see any real reason to adjust the system as is, except for romoving detonation from the roster completely, because it;s terrible in so many other ways…

Perhaps a system whereby the Bomber “Pilot” assigns his own escort from planes within their account. The escort/s would have to be controlled by AI, if possible. At least this way the people that enjoy bombing have some protection from the rammers and genuine enthusiasts.
Just a quick comment on ramming. I accept that ramming is part of the game but to crash a perfectly good plane into an enemy just because they are bombing accurately seems ludicrous. If the rammer’s plane is damaged and going down but still has some control I believe ramming is justified. Maybe I have a sense of fair play.
It would be frustrating for a fighter pilot to stay with the bomber throughout the session without reward. So perhaps a reward of the average team score could be paid to escorts as a basic and any kills, hits etc go on top of the basic. The escort would have to stay within a certain distance of the bomber to qualify.
There are so many ways to reward an escort pilot that my brain is aching thinking about it !!!
