Why has this not been fixed?

When I first started this game I had set my goals on the Federation Interceptor, Swift Mk3 T1. It is an energy suppression ship who’s bonuses give 50% increase to effective range and the effect of energy suppression modules. I thought this was great, i could drain the energy of a ship to stop them using modules/afterburner etc. So when I went to fit my ship I found the ‘Energy Absorber T2 Mk1’. What I didnt know was that you can fit tech 2 modules on a tech 1 ship.

As far as I can see there isnt A SINGLE tech 1 energy supression module in the game! I dont understand how you can make an entire game and not realise this. Not only that but it hasnt been fixed.

My other problem are the Empire ‘sniping’ ships, and to an extent the Jericho torp ships.  I love using interceptors and sometimes the fighters, but how is it in any way balanced that a ship can at most two shot an interceptor? Was this not the entire reason why EVE brought in signature radius, to stop exactly that. Yea interceptors might have increased crit chance, but when a frigate has around 15k hp, its gonna take some time for an interceptor to kill it and thats not even taking into account resistances, and you also have the 10k physical distance to close before you get a chance to hit your target.

Other than this, the game is great!

and most modules you want on MOST ships isnt there before t3 -.- happy 30+ hours of grinding o/

personally i think everything should be available at t1, at least at t2… but nope

you mean can’t

It’s not a bug.

And thus when you get to tier III you’re bored and quit the game.

The entire point of the tier system is for the sake of customization. T1 to me, feels like an extended tutorial. The game really begins at T2-that is when a lot of customization options open up.

As for snipers, yeah, they are INCREDIBLY good at tier 1. They get less powerful as the tiers go on. One thing you should do as an interceptor is to always evade. Make odd turns, wiggle your crosshairs around, dive or climb rapidly etc. In addition, you don’t have enough DPS to kill a frigate in timely fashion alone. Interceptors in this game seem to take on a semi-support role, catching and disabling targets for others to finish off.

this is a valid way of looking at it but lets be honest a 30-60hours toturial to get all the ships up in t2, really that is NOT acceptable if this is the logic behind the system.

a toturial shouldnt take more then max a few hours, besides t3 combat have nothing to do with t1 or t2 combat, due to the new modules introduced its a completely different playing field and everything you thougt you learned doesnt matter becouse you need to relearn everything.

everything you grinded doesnt matter becouse you need to regrind it.

firefall is trying to do something similar to this and its the same feeling of simply mindless tiredless grind with absolutely no reward, once you hit t4 EVERYTHING you done up to t4 doesnt matter at all, since you need to rebuy EVERYTHING at t4, thereby it basicly resets you back to squere 1 and you will like you simply just completely wasted your time untill that point.

if i had known this from the start i would have completely skipped t2 and gone straight for t3 or t4 if possible so to not wasted the cash and time on stuff which is useless once you get in to the last tier.

i really feel like that need to be adressed as well as the lack of combinations of modules in earlier tiers, which gives a completely warped view on the gameplay, just look at the amount of complaints about the sniper frigs, which are the most useless of all the ships once you hit t3+ (fed frig is no doubt the best to have with you in 95% of the cases and only becouse of the command mods.)

wasting our time and money

omg

that’s called learning to play. When I see the average level in tier II, I think it’s not even long enough.

But it seems you have decided to rage. I’m not interested in having a fight. I leave this conversation.

How are you spending 30-60 hours to get into T2!? It only took me 15 hours to get into Tier 2. Granted I had the free 1 week license, but even then it shouldn’t take nearly that long. If it really did take 30-60 hours to get into T2, then yeah, I would agree that is way too much.

The level of ignorance in this thread is astounding. I’m not sure how Benache made it that far without leaving earlier.

I agree with Benache completely, you earn more customization as you rank up and get higher tier ships. To put it into a realistic explanation, as the technology of the ships increase, so too does their level of customization. As most of the tier 1 ships are listed as old military ships or retrofitted civilian vessels, there would not be a good market for modules for them.

In a gameplay sense, you play more you earn more. 'Nuff said.

Im sorry fellas but it only took me 10 days to reach T2, and thats because I practice and got good at this game. the less you die, the more money you make and the more rank you recieve even you lose the match.

seriously 30 to 60 hours is way to freaking long by any standards. Unless you die like 10 times every match then its understandable. Also sniper friagtes are easy to kill. Sneak up on the xxxxxxxx with your squad.

The original point stands a bit, though.

I don’t know why any ships in Tiers that do not even have modules under those categories have bonuses in those categories.

Where are the Engineering modules in Tier 1?  They don’t exist.

Yet, they have Engineering based bonuses on ships, ect.  This should be removed simply because those ships are… well, kinda pointless if they have those bonuses.  Also, its confusing for new players.  If you are going to leave them in perhaps at least give a preview of what Engineering or ECM or Energy Supression ect modules you might run into later.

I agree with this.

OK, i’m back. I was a bit angry before, sry for that.

I believe that in order to stay interesting, there must be some difficulty in a game. That way, when you master it, you really earn it.

As Pierre Corneille said in Le Cid (gotta love this book) : “A vaincre sans péril on triomphe sans gloire” (To win without risk is to triumph without glory)

That said, i began this game on the 19th of january. I am level 12 Legion and Tech, 5 Raid and 6 Vanguard. I don’t agree with your 30 to 60 hours.

OK, i’m back. I was a bit angry before, sry for that.

Justified, no apology necessary.

I got to rank 5 in less than 10 hours. Your 30-60 hour times are jokes, no offense.

The hell?

I got to Tier 2 in like two nights of light playing.  It’s NOT that hard to get to T2.  The grind from rank 3 to rank 4 is the only one that takes any amount of time at all.

Edit: Just checked my total play time with steam.  12.5 hours.  That’s with playing Federation up to rank 2, realizing I wanted a long range frigate so switched to Jericho, got to T2 and realized how bad long range ships are in T2 and switched to empire and just now hit T2 with empire.

Yah, I’m with you on this one. I have like 8 hours played (actual in combat time) and I’m almost into tier 3. What’s taking you guys so long? I guess if you are faction hopping, than yah, it’s gonna be a while.

This.

Well, even that doesn’t explain it. 30-60 hours?

Can someone check those people who said that’s profile and see if they have even been playing that much? I would but I do not have access to a computer atm.
