Each faction has 2 roles per class,
Federation:
Recon/Covert Ops
Tackler/Gunship
Guard/Engineer
Jericho:
ECM/Covert Ops
Tackler/Command
Guard/Long Range Frigate
Empire:
ECM/Recon
Command/Gunship
Long Range Frigate/Engineer
Empire: Focuses on Hull tanking
Jericho: Focuses on Shield Tanking.
Federation: Has the middle of both shield and hull, but has more speed.
yeah i know dat but:
Jerico: guard same as federation.
Jerico: Long range missile exclusive.
Imperio: engineer same as federation.
Imperio: Long range laser exclusive.
In that matter, yeah, federation has no long range frigates.
Again, their frigate lines are:
Empire: sniper long range and engineer, general specialization is the sniper
Federation: engineer and guard, extra speed, no general specialization i think, just the ability to provide aid faster on the field
Jericho: torpedo long range and guard, specialization guard
Each has 2 out of 3 types, so the federation doesn’t get the long range type.
So basically they both fall in the Long Range Frigate class (the empire sniper and jericho torpedo boat), which is why the feds miss them. They are considered a single class, even though they have different long range abilities.

Empire has no guards, Jericho has no engis, so Fed has no LR

The same way you fit different race ships differently. Imperial Engineers, for example, serve a completely different healing purpose than that of the Federate ones. Federate Guards also fit a completely different role than those of Jericho. Jericho LRFs also serve a completely different role than that of their Imperial counterparts. Same goes for all Ceptors and Fighters.
It’s not rocket science and the Torpedo has its advantages and disadvantages vs the Disintegrator, for obvious reasons.

Actually, no. Federation ships can be in the frontline just like any other ship in this game. As I said, their purpose is entirely different from their Imperial/Jericho counterparts, which is speed. Their ability to be deployed anywhere in the map in a blink of an eye is what separates them from their counterparts. Think about it.

I assume that a Jericho Engy would have better shield regen rates for the mass shield generator.
Yes, thats why I love the federation. There the best for speed and maneuverability.

I swear, playing Jericho guard has killed my fed engineer for me. Literally. I can die fast in it now since it can’t tank and I haven’t tuned it for the latest changes.
