Why does the highest ELO team get paired DOWN in tournaments?

So about six or seven times now, my team has been at the top of the pairings in round 1.

We fight DNO, the other highest ELO team - on Russian server, so we usually lose.

Then the next round, the tourney matchmaker tries its hardest to pair us against them again. So if there are an odd number of winners, it pairs us against DNO again.

I argue that high ELO winners should  NEVER  be paired down. They should be at the absolute top of the rankings of their current win count.

The fact that this is happening is ridiculous and honestly makes me and a lot of other players furious.

WhiteRaven would like to add the following (he doesn’t have a forum account created yet):

This type of bug or w/e is the reason he doesn’t play Star Conflict much anymore. Giving RU wings/squads preference in matchmaking and tournaments is complete bullsh*t. I also haven’t been participating in tournaments recently due to this. It is stupid for this to happen almost every single week (the last 4 tournaments I participated in had this happen).

My two cents is this: Stop giving RU wings preference. If you want this game to thrive and grow, stop giving these elite RU wings preference in every tournament they play in.

It’s not just against Russians, it’s against any high ELO team. It tries to pair the teams together again even if one of them already lost. It shouldn’t pair high-rated teams down. Ever.

True, although when has this ever happened to a high ELO US wing? Maybe once. Regardless though, it does need to stop.

We got matched against the same team twice as well. Seems a little daft considering that there are enough teams for this not to happen.

Is this a bug or a feature?

Anyway, this must be fixed!

Ah, conspiracy theories  You’ve got to love them!

To be fair, there are a ridiculous number of instances where the same two teams go against each other in tournament twice in a row. The outcome changes sometimes, but very rarely, from my experience.

Thing is this isn’t a conspiracy theory. This is actually happening, and it is a huge problem that needs to be fixed.

And again, matched against the same team twice…

One way to counter a unfair game is to make your squad all go 700m/s tackler and fly to the edge of map together and make several round trips till battle ends, the worst you can get is a draw, if one gets lucky you may shoot down 1 or 2 ships chasing you.

seems the case is the next.

1st round

ELO[1] - ELO[2]
ELO[3] - ELO[4]

ELO[5] - ELO[6]

lets say 1,3,5 won.

2nd round
ELO[3] - ELO[5]

ELO[1] - ELO[2]

ELO[4] - ELO[6]

so if the groups number is odd, the 2 strongest teams going against each other again.

I would like to see at least a shuffle mechanism in the best 3 teams to have less chance to face against the same enemy.

Very accurate representation of what is going on.

Or even better, everyone on the team be 700 m/s recons. As soon as someone gets close, everyone warp across the map. XD

Genius tactic, but 700m/s cov ops would be death if they swarm the enemy team with nukes and then use adaptive camo to run like hell away.
