It doesn’t help you diffusion tank at all because the damage is absorbed by the diffusion shield and isn’t converted into energy so why should I bother using it?
What am I supposed to do with it? It seems like a runaway module.

Pretty sure that’s exactly what it is. Module that lets you run away from fire with super energy stability.
it’s useful for any fit that needs energy in combat situations
think command before you go command mode
or think cruise engine
it’s a module, where you gotta know why you equip it
The thing is, why should I equip it? You don’t need energy in a command ship when you aren’t using the DS because you naturally have high energy regen. You are already energy stable while running away.
The point is to convert incoming damage into energy.
Cruise fits can become unstable because of their high initial afterburner cost, even if their energy regen is above usage. Escaping is much easier, if incoming damage replenishes your energy. It helps you on short range dangers, like ECMs who try to catch you with energy drain.
Commands can ensure, that they have enough energy, when they switch into command module, so that it does not immediately break.
It’s a choice, and perfectly viable; it might also help other ships or builds I haven’t thought about.
Too bad it can’t be used to convert incoming damage into energy that can be used to boost your own damage… Kinda like the guard phase shield. That would be pretty sweet, if a bit OP.
So the ER ensures you have enough energy once you are done fighting and turn on he diffusion shield. Often when I turn it on the diffusion shield doesn’t have enough energy because I was maneuvering.
I see the benefit now of fitting it but is it worth exchanging it for a resistance or the Compact Shield genny? Probably not. It should have an extra benefit like increase rotation and strafe if energy is above 70%
that would make no sense, since its a shield module. however not sayin’ a secondary effect wouldnt hurt it. at least there are no drawbacks.
however, yes, it is a module which also hurts your build since you have to give up a shield slot
there are ships where this isn’t an issue anyway…
for me it is part of any cruise fighter build, because without it, the cruise fighter is rather easy to counter. this way however, while you escape from a hit and run attack, you are even fond of getting some shots on you, since it means, you can make a course correction sooner, or use anti tackler modules more reliably. so i use 1 energy recup + adaptives.
but this module really only makes sense, if you know, you would be much better off having energy at a point, where the enemy shoots you. and you have to have the self confidence, that you sacrificed the shield slot, because of course it doesn’t do anything else.
it might also make sense on a long range for his escape module, albeit, that ship is standing anyway so you usually have no problems with energy.

i made a suggestion thread about a pendant to adaptive shields, called reflective armor, for that usage, which would increase damage output by incoming damage on adaptive speeds using a hull slot for exactly this reason.

Maybe reduction of AB energy use.
G4, it would make sense to le it have more maneuverability because it provides more energy to the engines. Like a fuel injector to the vernier and strafe engines.
G4 b
otherwise, yeah, a secondary effect would be indeed nice, however, more damage would be op indeed because it would mostly benefit empire
but it could simply also have a small base energy regen value attached to it, which would allow ships without hull slots to make more stable builds
